Brushless is a great idea... I'll look into it myself. Pretty sure any standard 540 size brushless kit will work though. I was also considering a nitro conversion.

If it was charged before it was sent to you, I'd be ok just leaving them like that. But if they were never charged or charged a year ago, then you should assemble and charge them before storage.
