10.5 should be a perfect starting place for someone getting into racing a mod buggy. I've seen plenty of folks keep up with 13.5, even 17.5.

Gear diff, correct? Sounds like your diff is skipping. You can either get some shims and shim it or upgrade to a ball diff. I've never actually run the gear diff...just heard it acting up plenty...

I like the fit of the RPM cover a LOT better than the AE covers. The plug in particular is much better on the RPM cover. It doesn't wear out over time and stays put.

I like the VTS slipper too. The RPM gear cover doesn't quite fit over it though. I dremeled mine and the remaining plastic is about paper thin.

+1 I put one on my SC10 and noticed pretty much the same thing you did. And if you need to let it slip a bit you won't roast the pads right off the bat. Money well spent.

I've got the aluminum ones on both my B4.1 and my T4.1 but my son has the B44 hug on his SC10. I didn't really like how the SC10 felt with the C hub mod so with that I'll be sticking with the $4 B44...
