You already know where the play is in the hub...

You already know where the play is in the hub carrier(between the flange pipe and hole for it in the hub carrier) Fill that gap with epoxy. Thats all that needs to be done.

Back to the problem at hand. The stock springs are a bit long. Try Associated springs. They are a bit shorter and stiffer which should help....
