No cutting required but you will need to dremel the rear bulkhead UM740 (or use the older UM724B). It's only a bit of plastic to cut but it gets on the way of the outdrives if you lift the diff....

Yes, if fronts are ballooning too much that's a sign of too thin of an oil for center diff. Oil in the center diff can vary from 10K to 500 000K, so don't be afraid to try :)

Don't go too cheap on the radio. It makes for an unpredictable handling as they lag randomly. If I were you I would look for a second-hand Sanwa MT4S or MT44.

Not true. I used 300k on a medium-grip carpet track and the center diff was warm after a run, a clear sign that the diff is doing its work :)
