If you cranked down the kingpin screw on the caster blocks it will cause the whole arm to bind up, when you attach the links. Check that first, just back it off a hair, then check it.

I run a revtech 17.5 in my rb5, full timing on can and its geared 69/32 temps around 140 after 6 min. You get the spur for the b4 and use b4 slipper pads.
