Once i finally figured it out I could see where the instructions need some better polishing to be understood better.
So far I like it - everything works and updating was sucessful. Just have look into the best adjustments on the speedo for brake and throttle settings.

"I suggest talking to the cobraracing fellow on here if needing tech support for hobbywing. He's very nice and professional and seems to go out of his way for the right folks. It's too bad we can't have him here in North America. I believe he's directly involved with the factory and Can be a strong resource for any of you having trouble. "

I cannot connect when I press on the ESC in the top right hand corner.
I have already renamed the wifi, changed the password as instructions state.
I've reset it and still no luck.
Even followed the suggested troubleshooting steps that pops up when it displays unable to connect to esc, still nada.
Its a brand new unit too. Blah
ESC and wifi link get powered up first then I try connecting, still nada :-(

You are sure your phone is not connected to home WiFi or track WiFi when attempting to connect to esc? Your phone will default to the better connection when given two choices... And internet connectivity is what it rather . At home I have to disconnect from WiFi to connect to WiFi module
Since its a older SCT Pro, maybe the ESC needs a firmware update? But I have no way to do that. I would have to get a program box and download the usb link software correct? (been reading up on the issue)
I was able to set the ESC the good ol' fashion way lol.

Well, 3 days later and after looking at more than 1/2 of the Hobbywing Tech Support thread, I found the culprit.
I disconnected the ESC from the receiver, then booted up the ESC, then connected to the Wifi link via Wifi and what do you know....it connected :-D
yay go me lol

Hello, anyone has had any issue like this. At the track my wifi module didn't want to on. I tried on 3/different esc but I couldn't make it work. Any help would be great. Thanks

2) Change the SSID to one you’ll recognize as yours, not the guy’s next to you. Might as well change the passcode too.

1) Turn on radio, Turn on ESC, plug WiFi adapter in to ESC ( in that order). Works for me every time using a buddies adapter. Plugging the WiFi adapter into the ESC before power caused it to fail every time. YMMV.

Anyone run into a problem where the Hobbywing Wifi module stops communicating with the esc after latest IOS update? My module always connected without issue until recently. Now it won't connect with any of my esc's. The only thing that has changed was the installation of the latest IOS software on my phone. The wifi module still generates a wifi signal so my phone connects with it but when you try to connect to the esc it thinks for a minute and then does nothing. The latest IOS also indicates the Hobbywing wifi signal has weak security. Never indicated that in the previous IOS software. I've tried everything I could think of, resetting the wifi module (several times), removing and reinstalling the HW app, and updated the esc to the latest firmware. When I hooked up the esc's to the PC everything worked fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
