Hobbywing wifi issues

Any running a android S5 with the Hobbywing Wifi unit?

I cannot get it to work or the phone to keep the app from crashing.

Really like to use it and make it work but seems what I see android devices have issues with it.

Any help would be good.

It's also not working correctly on my android phone. On Samsung Note4 most of the parameter seelctions are not working.
I have reported this to Hobbywing but not get any correction with issue after 3 months. So, i have basically useless wifi module

I had issues with my set-up and called hobbywing north America. The guy that answered tech support was extremely rude and had a nasty attitude. Took a while and finally got my droid to work with their set-up. I got an apology later from the guy [charlie], but that was too late, too little, to save a customer from ever giving this distributor a penny.

I suggest talking to the cobraracing fellow on here if needing tech support for hobbywing. He's very nice and professional and seems to go out of his way for the right folks. It's too bad we can't have him here in North America. I believe he's directly involved with the factory and Can be a strong resource for any of you having trouble.

Best of luck.

I will give him a shout. Will try a friends i-phone to see if it will work.

Probably end up selling it off.

It works perfect on iOS. I have tried it on my works droid phone and whilst it connected and worked it wasn't anywhere near the positive experience from my iPad/iPhone. When it works the wifi link is absolutely brilliant. You could get a cheap older generation iPod touch with wifi from flea bay which would do the trick if the droid doesn't work out.

A quick note for android users. On samsung phones and i am sure others have this setting you may need to turn off "Auto Network Switch Setting"
When it is set to on it will switch to mobile data anytime your wifi connection is weak..

If its on and your using hobbywing wifi adaptor the phone will notice you dont have a stable internet connection(or any at all) and will switch to mobile data

I had disovered this on my friends rc results app that used our tracks wifi router to share race results to the racers on site(no internet on that modem) In order to maintain a stable connection to the wifi we had to turn off the auto network switch.

Something to check out for any android users having issues.

here is a link explaining it https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/...ch/ta-p/527803

For me the problem is parameters with kind of slider type selector. Those don't work. When parameter have dot type selector it works. Shame that most of the prameters are type that don't work.

I experience that issue with the roller selectors as well. Using my Samsung note5... It takes repeated tapping to make a change.. But on my old Samsung S3 it works perfectly...

I'm wondering if the app cannot handle big screens or certain high resolution phones?

Borrowing a friend i-phone 5 and ap works but cannot connect to the wifi module.

Hobbywing instructions are vague in my eyes. Doing the firrst step of bonding with the wifi module wont even work.

Factory reset the module on the back with the reset button also.

When I goto into the wifi settings it doesn't recognize the module but will recognize the wifi network if I have it turned on.

I am savy with tech and this is just getting a tad frustrating.

Will the iPhone actually connect to the HWLINK wifi network?

If it does then go into the app and click the little connect button in the top right hand corner.

Cannot get it to connect to the wifi module.

Following the instructions with the unit and for some reason I am or it is zoning.

When I turn on the unit and and open the phone's wifi I can see the hw-wifilink and clock on it. Enter 12345678 since I reset the unit and it will not connect.

Thats the first hurdle I cannot get past.

You can try 'forget this network' on iOS and then reconnect. The wifi link has worked first time for me on all my iOS devices so a little puzzled why yours isn't playing ball. You might need to call the HW America guy to see if something is wrong with the hardware.
