Anyone running their RX8 on road, touring car etc?

Maybe the reps from Tekin can answer this… any way to set the bec to 8.4v? Is it possible with existing hardware and just a software update?

You can set the BEC to HV 8.4V in the Rx8 with the Hotwire using PC, Android or IOS. You cannot do it directly on the unit with the buttons.

maybe I’m missing something, my Hotwire 3.0 setup only shows 6v or 7.4v options on a single toggle slider. Is there an update that I need to make?

It says 7.4v on the setting because the is the nominal voltage of a 2s lipo and what most use to indicate that voltage range. Yes when charged they are 8.4V, but electronics can only provide what the battery voltage is minus a little voltage drop in the regulators. So a full charged battery is 8.4v and the BEC output is about 7.8V. When the battery is partially used and voltage is only say 7.6V then the BEC output is about 7.2V. It is one of the reasons we personally are not fans of high voltage BEC setting in our setups because it changes as the battery is used, and just makes the servos too darn fast anyway for good steering.

I personally run most of my set ups at 6.0v most modern ‘decent’ servos are fast and powerful enough at that setting to require the need to go higher

Quick one: just bought an RX8 gen 3 new but I want to swap the case to the black version before I solder it/set it up. Will this impact my warranty? Thanks.

Changing the case does not effect your warranty.

Also, unrelated question for you please: I'm a big fan of Tekin and I was looking at putting an RX8 gen 3 + 2000kv truggy motor in a Tekno MT410 I'm about to build. A couple of people keep trying to sell me on the Castle MMX+1515 combo instead "because Tekin is for racing". I don't understand that logic and I was wondering if you had any thoughts please.

Hi it all depends of your budget and if already own tekin stuff , I have been using a Tekin rx8 gen3 and motor in my mt410 and love it, no need to go with the 2000kv motor the 1900kv is good enough for me unless you want ginormous torque ( that a 1900kv will give anyway) and with all the recent firmware updates the esc is even more responsive and the brakes are amazing . Unless you want to run your truck in the wet or snow I would highly recommend the Tekin ESC it's good hardware for sure.

If you want to run the new batch of belted tires then you could purchase the 2000kv truggy motors it will help with those heavy tires 👍👍

I am having a problem with Tekin warranty. I bought the unit 20 June, 2022, and not getting a positive response.

Called Tekin over 12 times yesterday and today AND NO RESPONSE.

It’s not warranty,they will say that it is your soldering
