......just because you paid 40% more does not mean your faster..... these motors are on point, available, and more than ready to compete.

I beg to differ, I have met many who say the more you spend the faster you go. LOL

lol get what you pay for saying comes to mind ...

Though, when I tried to sell to a guy who always would say that an RX8 Gen2 I had here NIB for twice what I bought it for, which obviously means its twice as good now!, He passed?

If the maclan motors basically have the proper shimming etc like what I think Express motorsports does to the trinity motors they sell at that price, that's pretty awesome.

Wow. If this is aimed at my question of asking someone to describe their experience with the motor before trying a new and unknown brand I'm surprised. I'll first say I bought my motor second hand for less than the cost of this Maclan motor. Secondly I'm not sure why being snarky about how much that motor costs has anything to do with wether the other is a competitive platform.

Nick is just excited about the new product and proud that it will run with ANY motor on the market. Our team drivers paired it against every high performance motor on the market. It will be a front runner for sure. It will prove that racers do not have to spend up to $150 for a top notch motor.

I went ahead and ordered one, a 17.5 for 1/10 2wd buggy. I am hopeful that I can get it before march 12th.

Any times on timing, gearing, etc to start with? Haven't ordered a brand spanking new motor in awhile but I am a firm believer in customer support (if it sucks, might as well just buy used at that point) and from what I have had in the past with Nick, I figure I'd give this a shot.

Here is the recommendation from the team:

- Motor set up should be at 50* timing mark on can.
o Note going up or down just 1* of timing can make a big difference in amp draw of motor.
- Gearing
o Touring Car – 3.7-3.9 FDR
o 2wd Buggy – 5.6 to 6.0 FDR
o Short Course – 7.5 to 8.0 FDR
o Stadium Truck – 7.3 to 7.8 FDR
- Operating Temperature
o Properly geared motor should have a temperature range of 150*F

These recomendations are with the motor using the Torque Spec 12.5 rotor that comes with each motor.

If you are running a 2wd Buggy with out lightweight drivetrain items start on the high end of the gear ratio.

I also went ahead and ordered a 17.5. I'm excited to try it out!

Well we'll be the first kids on the block to have them that's for sure. Right now the new ModX and D4-1s are the popular motors people are running at my track. Hoping this slays them or is surprisingly close in performance.

very curious to see how it goes. I was tempted to try a 24K as, I hate to say it, the gold color may look good with the gold chassis of the dex210F lol. But customer service matters!

24k is a fantastic motor. I did have a bad sensor board on mine when it arrived and they replaced it promptly. I think the 24k is more punchy than my d41s, I'm hoping the Maclan will blow me away. I'd love to run something different amongst a sea of the same. Incidentally I think I'm the only one in my area with a 24k, never quite caught on as much as the d41s did.

cool. right now its a carpet offroad track so torque is king. The motor I used last time was a Viper Black Edition 17.5 with a 12.5mm rotor. It definitely made more power than my Viper VST in its usable gearing range but the motor shaft had a bend to it so had to go back to the 12.3mm .

so right now i am looking to see how it goes in comparison to that motor.

There is also talk of doing a 13.5 1/10 4wd E buggy class. I was tempted to buy a 24K deal they had on ebay but I want to see how this motor does first and if its good, maybe I'll get a 13.5 version too
