I had both RX the 614 and the 604. 604 was for the older model 3PK. I suspect it has to do with C1 / C2 modes. And the 604 isn't able to operate at the faster transmitting speeds. Anyhow, you just can't bind the 604. I tried many times, and I just ended up selling the older RX and replacing it with the 304SB. It is backwards compatible to the 614. I use it in my nitro cars, but I like the smaller 304 for the electric vehicles.

After speaking with a tech on the difference in speed they told me the 4PX's FHSS system is slower so that killed it for me. Seems like a bad move for Futaba to downgrade performance for the looks, even if telemetry is now a feature.

I've tried the M12 and REALLY wanted to like it but it's plagued with the same issues of the M11..FAR too top heavy. The Futaba 4PK series is just better balanced. I think I'll focus back to what's really important (performance) and put my cash into more Orion speedo's
Except the 4PX,4PXR can also run FASST, you dont have to run FHSS......

604 is introduced with 4PKR radio, C2 mode.
603 is introduced with 3PK fasst addon system, C1 mode.
614 is released to replace 604, smaller size and maybe better speed/smoother/higher resolution. It's possible for easier for identification, 604 and 603 shared same RX case and similar PCB. Only way to tell difference is by the label or looking at the pcb itself.
604 will work on 4PX

Default 614Fs

This works, correct?

Any reason to upgrade from my 4pksr with 30hrs functioning like a brand new radio?

614fs/ff/fe series rx will work on 4px/4pxr. Just make sure you go to receiver selection in the radio and select FASST before you start to blind the tx/rx.
Here is the manual for the radio http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/4px-manual.pdf
scroll down to page 37. it will give you step by step instruction on selection type of RX to blind with radio.

it's all personal preferences. 4PX felt better on hand and trigger felt nicer than my old 4pksr. When using 614 rx, I cant tell difference between 4pk or 4px. Once a while I did experience some "lag" with 4px when car is horizontal to the radio and more than 80ft away with antenna in stock position. With 304rx, it felt more "twitchy", responsive, or faster but somehow not as connected as FASST rx.

Mine has been on order for some while, so I hope it is one of the first that gets shipped from Tower. I'll post when it comes. If you have not ordered yours yet, the first shipment may already all be accounted for.

Been looking around for when one comes in also, but I haven't pre-ordered anywhere.
Towers stock status went from early April to mid the other day.
A-main finally listed it as an arriving soon product which had a delivery time of end May. It's been changed to April 18th.
Shouldn't be too much longer.
My 4PKRS has some issues so I'm pretty keen to get a new radio.

My 4PXR shows "Invoiced - Processing in Warehouse" so I'm looking forward to it.

In the mean time, I was able to fix my old 3PK so I can still use that with my FM and C1 receivers. (http://www.rctech.net/forum/radio-el...utaba-3pk.html) Not many views of that thread...am I the only one that ever had a bad Futaba steering potentiometer??
