It's just as good as the D3.5 was if not better.

What's the deal with this motor a lot of guys from my local on-road track seems to not like this motor because they run hot. I'm still running my 8 month old revtech killshot and it's does the job. I TQ on expert 17.5 stock blinky by 5 sec. and win the main with my old killshot.

Not sure what they are doing to make it run so hot. The D4 runs way cooler then the Kill Shot does. I run stock buggy, sct, and truck all D4 powered. It's a killer motor that runs strong and doesnt fade when it gets a little warm. I found it has a nice sweet spot around 7 amps on the Extreme Motor Checker.

Is that 7 amps draw @ 8.4V with no load?

I was running mine in a B5M , blinky class at 69/33 @ 35 degrees of timing and I was coming off around 140 degrees after the main. It was a beast for sure!

+1 I can't seem to get mine warm! ~ 112* is as warm as I can get it geared to the moon! I have to gear it down a lot to get more torque. Its SICK fast still even at current gearing 38/69 with 40* of timing

Anyone running the d4 with HT rotor in a sct? I have a new 22sct 2.0 I'm looking to put this in what gearing and timing is being ran in this type of truck? it's a big track lots of turns and jumps with a 125'+ sweeping straight.

The trans ratio is 2.43 on this truck

Thanks I will give it a try I'm running a 75 spur so either a 25 or 26 pinion....also have a 69 spur which would mean 23 to 24 ... either one will put me at around a 7.0 fdr does that seem right?

I would drop down to 34/69 and turn the timing up to 50. That motor will come alive.:nod::nod::tire::tire:
It also isn't a stock D4, it's the super crazy matched Fantom Ion V5 with all the upgrades. Looking at CB's cut gears as my next upgrade. Trying to not buy the carbon chassis right now. :sneaky: |
