why would you want it to go into reverse before it stopped??! that is a good way to put a lot of strain on the motor and to start stripping gears.

Viper Copperhead-R has delay (until stop). You can apply the brake several times in a row, it won't reverse until after the motor is fully stopped. Works the same in both directions.
Hobbywing WP-SC8 and, by association, SCT Pro have double tap reverse. You only get to brake once, next is reverse. I, personally, don't like this. It also doesn't have reverse to forward braking - instant switch to forward. |

I also hate the delay on the reverse, the best way to engage the reverse would be brake -> stop -> immediate reverse possible
the most annoying thing is that if you don't wait enough the timer of the delay will restart and so on.. it can get very frustrating because sometimes you need to reverse QUICK (to avoid a car on the track for example) |

Yup. Happens to me quite a bit. But I'm a basher, and it doesn't bother me much.

It is very annoying waiting for the RS to finally engage reverse. I would like to see some way to change it.

Every hobbywing Ive owned had elayed reverse

Guys we hear what you're all asking for. A reverse delay after seeing perhaps 0-100 rpm is doable.
Might be in a future software update. |
Randy, has there been any movement on this?
|
Just a bump to this thread.
Randy - if you're on, would love to hear if there has been any movement on this issue over at Tekin. A buddy and I that hang out at the track on practice days (when reverse is allowed) are getting fed up with delays, and particularly the timer that resets every time you try to reverse and we're starting to look into alternatives. The solution that you mention above (allow reverse if RPMs are less than 100), or allowing us to programming the amount of reverse delay, or allowing reverse once the car has come to a stop all seem like good ideas. The one thing that I guess you have to be careful about is if you are driving offroad and adjusting your cars altitude in the air, you wouldn't want the tires suddenly going backwards. |

Might be in a future software update. Thats what I call listening to yoru customers, just downloaded firmware 255 to my RS Gen 2 , put it on Fw with Reverse delay and theres now a area at the bottom of the throttle tab in hotwire where you can set the amount of time of the reverse delay, .25 seconds is working nicely, cause the car has to come to a complete stop first anyways, leave it in neutral for a qtr of a second and goes right into reverse. nice , thanks Randy also digging the new torque adjustability setting |
So psyched; thank you for doing this!

So I thought this made my day...heck week... heck maybe even my month! Why? Because the fact that you have to wait until FOREVER to reverse on a Tekin ESC is pathetic. I actually ended up buying Speed Passions and other ESC where the reverse delay isn't as offensive (yes, the reverse delay on the Tekin is OFFENSIVE).
So needless to say, as soon as I saw this post, I ran to my man cave and fired up my Hotwire to download version 255... Did it work!@? HELL NO! It didn't work for my version of RS and RS Pro (black case). How annoying. These ESC's have been perfectly fine and I really like them except for the reverse delay. So it doesn't work for the older ESC's. While we're at it complaining, when will Tekin revise the user interface on the Hotwire? Don't they know that laptop and tablet screens nowadays are no longer 800 x 600? We're into 1920 x 1080... Welcome to 2016!!! You need a freakin' magnifying glass to be able to see what you're doing since the Hotwire interface is so small. Doesn't Tekin know that most of the buyers of these products are people who tend to be older (and with money) which means their eyes aren't as good? Lastly, the TABS on the user interface... do we really need them? Why not just have all the settings visible on one screen? Again, we have a lot more pixels on the screen to take advantage of this. Does Tekin know how much of a PITA it is to go back and forth between TABS to check on settings? How about removing the TABS, organize all the settings all on one BIG page that fills the entire screen? |
