Hmmm.

So you think the USDM version won't have the LiFe battery....

I saw it as being $100 cheaper (once taking TH discount into account), so one receiver less wasn't an issue as they are worth $50 new anyway - and I don't need more of them, yet.

But if it is missing the battery & charger aswell, that's a pain.

That is correct, US version does not have LiFe (& wall charger) or 2nd receiver! I confirmed this with Hobbico. The 1900 mAh pack for 4PK on TH site WILL fit 4PX.

Date is still estimated at 9/11 into Tower who receives all USA units. I was also told about 200 are backordered with some 900 coming into the states on Sept 11.

We will see, wish it was today and shipping out to all of us anxiously awaiting...

There is an article out there quoting hobbyco that states "most people replaced the NiMH battery from the 4PK with an upgraded one, so we decided not to include it"

Well, that would make sense if the new battery wasn't a LiFe battery! Numb nuts.

Possible it will include two grips out of the three also according to a few sites - assuming the two larger ones. Jury out on that one.

The Japanese Futaba site says the USDM and AUSDM units will have the "wide" grip at the very least.

I still think it is worth waiting. $100 is a fair saving in lieu of a $50 receiver and a battery/charger with a RRP of $100 that you can replace with aftermarket battery starting from $15 (and can use your normal LiPo charger in most cases)

The grip would useable in the small size I'm sure, but I would say I'd be much happier with the larger one. Probably a $25-$50 part to buy separately too!

Actually Hobbico is the U.S. distributor for Futaba. Then ships it out to other retailers (such as Tower, A-Main, etc) from there. They do work closely with Tower though. The date that those stores/retailers will get it in is currently best of my knowledge estimated to be within the Sept 26-29th date range, (then it takes another one week to arrive to the consumers that ordered them). That is after Hobbico ships out the first batch units that week to those retailers when they receive it after Sept 21st. If this is the case, Consumer's will see their radios within the very first week of October, and is an reasonable time frame I am thinking so far.

Futuba team drivers got their radio this week, so they are starting to come into the states!

Are the temp sensors really $75/ea? I really want to try this to replace my mt4, but with 2 temp sensors per car, I don't think I can.

Tower is the sister company to Hobbico! Hobbico has no warehouse, it's tower that receives the physical products / shipments. Just warranty goes to Hobbico. But you are right, the likelihood of Tower shipping anything fast is not good. I would guess late September is about right to consumers.

That makes more sense there about Tower being sister company to Hobbico, I always had a feeling and suspected as such over the years, hahaha!

Far as date, I contacted Hobbico's main rep OVER the weekend, had him double check info on their computers for me to make sure, and they said their invoice still shows Sept 21st for getting the first 4PX units in! (I don't know if they have to hold for a few days QC) and then they plan to ship out to distributors thereafter.

For USA LiFe the battery to get is: Hobbico LiFeSource LiFe 6.6V 1900mAh 3C Tx/Rx U 6J/14SJ $39.99 It's distributed through Tower so chances are near 100% it will fit (and I verified this with Hobbico / Futaba tech support)

As for the date, Hobbico is still quoting 9/11. That is also the date 'local' dealers are showing in their B2B Hobbico system. Futaba ships new products directly to Tower who then fills all of their consumer and retailer backorders from their warehouse. I'm hoping to get it the week of Sept 15th-19th. But we will see...

This really bothers me...its this or the KIY EX1 again. The precision of that system is hard to beat. I hate the antenna.
