Xpert Servos

Didn't see a thread to discuss. How does everyone like them so far? I haven't had a chance to pick up any yet.

Big Will 03-07-2014 06:43 AM

There was an "Official Xpert USA" thread. I guess it officially got deleted...

King DORK 03-07-2014 08:13 AM

I was going to order one last week from Amainhobbies. Out of stock .

nikos2002 03-07-2014 09:49 AM

check again, or PM me for info -- wouldn't want to be considered as "advertising" when I answer the question.

I just want to share that I got my expert servo in my PRS1 buggy today.

Looks good. I am probably going to get one for my 8.2e. Just weighing my options on which one I want :)

nikos2002 03-11-2014 11:29 AM

Isn't too many choices a good thing!!

Okay Nick, my servo is finally on the way :D. I know everyone hypes up the products that they represent or endorse, but all of the Viper escs you "hype up" have delivered and then some and I expect the same out of these servos. My buddy has the same B4.2 setup as mine and also ordered this servo. In comparing this servo to his Radiopost green, he said it's not quite as smooth (the Xpert), but is just as fast. Honestly, I have yet to find any servo that's as smooth as a Radiopost, and given that the Xpert is only slightly more than half the price, I'd say that's a heck of a compliment towards the Xpert. Mine should be here sometime during the week and I expect to be reporting back with some very positive feedback .

nikos2002 03-21-2014 12:01 PM

Its funny, I have heard that from a couple of people - funny thing is, I have used both and yes, sitting on the bend moving the wheels by hand, the Radio post is smooth, no resistance. But using it with the vehicle power on, moving the wheels via the radio. I wouldn't be able to tell them apart, if you didn't tell me which was which. Didn't know the other ones were that much more expensive, just found another plus!!

King DORK 03-21-2014 01:57 PM

I installed mine in my B4.2. This is what I'll report. On the car stand with the power on, the Xpert is slightly louder (using radio to turn) than what I had in the vehicle (Spektrum S6040), what I have in my Tekno SCT410 (ProTek 130SS), or what I have in my T4.1 (JR9100S). However, it's blazingly fast. Definitely faster than the Spektrum, not quite as fast as the ProTek, very comparable to the JR which is saying a lot. Can't wait to get it on the track and see how it stacks up then. Bench testing score : A.

What model is good for a 4x4 SCT?

nikos2002 04-11-2014 10:54 AM

Lots of options.

SI-4531
SN-4601
SN-4501
SM-4601
SM-4502

Great Torque - awesome speed. SN and SM have more advanced cases more durability, less flex. And they just look cool.

nikos2002 05-26-2014 08:58 PM

Great weekend for Xpert Servos:

Robert Batlle - wins Spanish Off Road Nationals Round 2

Marc Rheinard - finishes 2nd in Reedy Race of Champions Invitational Class

Travis Amezcua - finishes 5th in Reedy Race of Champions Open Class

Where did your servo help you finish this weekend? Maybe an Xpert servo could help improve that!!

nikos2002 06-03-2014 11:59 AM

Think you got what it takes to show the world what Xpert servos can do in your car, plane or heli? Xpert R/C USA is looking for pilots and drivers to be brand ambassadors. Able to show incredible control flying an advanced helicopter? Kick steer to help clear a tricky double jump and win the big event? Xpert wants to hear from you. Use the same products as World Class competitors - Marc Rheinard, Lee Martin, Robert Battle and Travis Amezcua.

Please send a resume of your accomplishments and events you have attended to [email protected] .

Deadline is Friday June 6, 2014

I don't understand the great interest in these servos. They seem a little overpriced for what they deliver. For an Xpert XPTSM-4401 $150 gets you .085 and 255 oz/in @ 6.0v. The Protek 150S is $120 for .08 @ 281 oz/in. If you want to spend a little more, the Protek 170S is $160 for .09 @ 445oz/in. All at 6.0v. Anyway, they look decent but I see better values out there.

nikos2002 06-05-2014 10:39 AM

sleddriver - biggest difference overall is that all Xpert servos are based on a brushless motor design. This will do several things for you: 1) more precise control, 2)smoother overall operation, 3) more efficient operation, 4) longer operation life at peak performance.

Yes, you can make servos have more ounces of torque, you can make them move at faster transit speeds. Those things can also tend to make vehicles more difficult to control, prove to higher failure rates and shorter operation life cycles.

There is a difference between brushless and coreless in operation - so its not a direct comparison. But thanks for noticing the product line and looking at it.

nikos2002 06-10-2014 09:49 AM

Lee Martin and Robert Battle finish 1-2 in both 2wd and 4wd classes at the European Championship warm up event in Sweden. Both drivers were using Xpert servos on their Yokomo cars. Of course, Lee was using a VTX10R speed control as well.

Just installed my Xpert SM-5401 into my Kyosho MP9/Tekno RC V4 yesterday. I can't wait to get it on the track! My 1/10 Xpert servos have been great, so I'm certain that this one will be too.

Travis may not have a chassis at the ROAR Gas Nats - but his Xpert servos are ready to go!!!!

nikos2002 06-26-2014 03:45 PM

A company well know for making servos made an announcement today about their new low profile servos. 9.0 kg-cm and speed of .07 at 7.4 volts.

Interesting our PI-3431 is 10.2kg-cm and speed of .07 at 6.0v (11.2 kg-cm and .06 at 6.6v)

izzyracer 07-27-2014 11:02 PM

Does this use futaba or Airtronics horn?

nikos2002 07-29-2014 01:17 PM

25T, like Futaba

nikos2002 07-29-2014 01:22 PM

Didn't realize how long its been since I posted on here. Since my last post Xpert servos have TQ'd the European Championships, finished 2nd in both 2wd and 4wd - Won ROAR Region 5 Championships, both 2wd and 4wd - A Main finishes in Canadian National Indoor Championships, 4wd SC, 1/8 Ebuggy and many, many more results... good news all around.

Maybe its time to try one on for size!!!

izzyracer 07-29-2014 01:52 PM

I'm giving it a try. Hopefully it's the right pick.

nikos2002 07-30-2014 11:28 AM

Great units, smooth, awesome control, not power hungry - your going to enjoy it.

What kind of car is it going in??

TA06-R... For TCS Nats.

hyujmn 07-30-2014 08:26 PM

I picked up one of these, the all aluminum low profile one for a mod sedan. These are fantastic servos. I've noticed they're not quite as smooth if you turn them by hand as a Futaba BLS551 but once in the car, they're incredibly fast and incredibly precise.

DEFINITELY worth the money!

The tolerances are tight - that is what helps to make it so precise. So yes, little tight to move by hand. By that is not where the magic happens!

Wildcat1971 08-11-2014 10:14 AM

TOO MANY SERVOS, lol. So I won a $35 dollar off coupon at the SS race. So I figured this was a great time to check out the xpert servos. I have to spend $100, lol. So I was looking at the servos just over $100. The all alum ones are overkill imo. But I dont understand what is different between the 96, 101 and 106 dollar servos. I will be using this in a 2wd buggy. I was looking at the $97 xpert LP servo, but I have to spend 100, rofl. So what is the difference between the servos?

nikos2002 08-12-2014 05:29 PM

Wildcat - there are a couple of differences. Some can be torque or speed. Some can be case design. You asked about the low profile servos. Here are the three

PI-3431 ---- plastic top and bottom, metal sleeve around core (Savox style)
PI-3401 --- plastic top, metal core - strong base for gear operation
PM-3401 -- All aluminum construction. designed for durability.
