Yea I've seen those as well...not sure how they can pack 9800Mah into a AA size battery but regardless, these are Li-ion batteries and at 3.7V each, I'm figuring thats a tad too much voltage into the transmitter.

Maybe a week of racing for me is different than others? I run 3 classes so that equates to around an hour and a bit of use per week. And its quite a few weeks. Before they are needed to be charged.

18650 are a larger battery than AA. Those are 14500, numerically. The 14 is the diameter in mm and the 50 is the length in mm. The extra 0 is just for showing off.

I should have some Aa lifepo4 batteries in the mailbox today. I may build a parallel pack to increase capacity.

I really wish all radios came with the 18650 batteries as they are cheap and powerful. I have seen 8 volts in a DX3R before, so 7.4 is not that much.

I measured the voltage coming off an 18650 battery and it was 4.09 volts, that would be 8.18 volts for two, and would last months, and they are easily recharged.

I recently bought one of these radios. First week my savox servo 1251mg in my kids 22 buggy burnt up. I attributed that to its age, its been raced hard for almost 3 years. The second week(this week), same servo in my 22 burnt out but this servo was like new. I ran them with no problems with my dx3r so I'm a bit confused. Is there something about this combination that causes problems. I already replaced the first one with the same servo because I had such good luck with it for so long. Now I'm concerned that one wont last long either. End points are set correctly. He's running the 410 receiver in his and I'm running the 3520 in mine. Like I said, never had any problems with these servos until I switched transmitters. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I run a home made glitch buster in mine. Try a glitch buster, I use one in all my vehicles. If you are already using one, check your frame rates. I thought 22's had some binding issues in the steering?

As long as digital servos are being used, frame rate shouldn't be of any consequence. Just in case, run at 11ms frame rate for a bit. the 5.5ms can apparently be a bit demanding.

I had a similar problem when using a Spektrum digital servo with the SR410. Occasionally when I would accidentally power up the car before the transmitter, or with the transmitter on the wrong model, the servo would see a noise glitch that it interpreted as a valid control pulse, but with a pulse width that would drive the servo against the mechanical stops. The digital servo I was using attempts to hold the last commanded position even if no new control pulses are received, and if stalled against a mechanical stop, burns out very quickly. Your Savox may do the same.

Unfortunately the SR410 does not have any failsafe on the steering channel, which would prevent the problem I described. (I don't know if the 3520 has failsafe on the steering.) The SR310 I tried does have failsafe on steering, so you might want to try that instead of the SR410.

My DX4r seems to saw through regular alkaline batteries.

so what is the solution? lithium AA cells, rechargables, or has anyone fitted using a LiFe pack?

I got them as a combo pack (charger and 8 batteries) for $18.xx shipped.

They currently don't have the combo I bought last April in stock. Like you, I was eating up AA's. Since going to these, they last multiple race days running 2 classes.

agree on the glitch busters - cheap, light "insurance" and rest assure your servo is getting clean power. amain protek or spektrum is $5.

My NIZN batteries are 2 years old next month, and showed 7 volts yesterday after a charge. It was showing 5.5 volts before I swapped batteries. I usually change way before that. I use 2 sets to keep them fresh. There is no way I will go back to 1.2 volt rechargeable batteries and glitch city again.

Built a test pack this week while waiting for my LiFePo4 batteries to arrive. This one was NiMH. Worked perfectly.
