got a url for the update... spektrum website is b0rked. can download the readme for 1.03... but not... 1.03... <sigh> and this is after they forced me to register <double sigh>

I have had my 4R Pro for about three weeks now and love it. I have been using the 3r Pro for the last two years and bought that used. The response time difference between the two is very noticeable. I have found myself turning into the pipe at the beginning of the turn because of the quicker response time. I wouldn't say its like night and day but it is quicker. I run savox servos and have not had a problem with any glitching. I did have some problem with the 3r pro. The steering wheel and throttle trigger tension adjustments are great, you can get it right where you want it. I do like the wheel better than the 3r but that is just me. The grips are better as I like a fatter grip where with the 3r I used the fat grip and still had to use a wrap. I don't with the 4r. The menu wheel is much better and is very smooth. The display is much the same but does seem easier to read. I use alkaline AA batteries and still have the original ones in with no issues there. I have not tried to use any other receivers other than actual Spektrum receivers. I have not updated to the 1.03, I am waiting to do that after the RC Pro race at the end of the month. It does look like and easy update, the only thing that I don't like is that you have to in and re-bind and put in all your settings again. I hope that this helps anyone thinking of buying one, and yes it is and was worth the upgrade.:batman::spidey:

The adjustable trigger is very nice. I also have a DX3S, and like how easy the 4R is to set the brake. I am going to start setting the trigger switches, so I can adjust while driving. Mine is set up left handed and really helps. I am using the orange Blue rx's as I am used to them, and they don't glitch either. I run glitch capacitors on my vehicles just to make sure no problems. Since going to this radio I am having very fast response times. When you can waggle the front wheels in turns to your hearts content, that is fun.

I rec'd my NIZN batteries and charger from HK the other day so charged them up that night and installed them into my 4R the next day. Wow, 7.1V, boot up and shutdown are noticeably quicker. We'll see how long they last before the next charge.

These batteries are amazing how long they last, and charge very quickly. My friend uses a 7.4 volt 1300 mah battery in his DX3R and charges it once a month if needed.

I did the update wich I problaby did not need to do but here is the update. It was very simple. The update was basically for the AVC (Active vehicle Control) of course not legal in any roar or ifmar sponsored event, but i did it anyway. The sucky thing is I had to rebind all vehicles (3) and put back in all the data for them. It really only took me about 15 minutes for everything. Also I did confirm that the DX4R Pro will not bind to the orange RX dsm2 as said in previous posts. With all that I really love this radio. :batman::spidey:

what dimension is the hex screw on the trigger?

Spektrum decided they didn't need to include one for that and the manual just says turn counter clockwise to loosen which is just.... exceptionally useless information...

I got a couple of sets in metric and the 17/73rds of a toe standard, neither gave me much luck. probably stripped already and broken.

It may not bind with the Orange brand rx's, but it does bind with the Blue orange rx's. I am using three of them in different vehicles for racing, and they perform great. I paid $32 shipped for all three.

Has anyone recently has any thermal shut downs with the Sprektrum DX4R when receiver gets too hot? I know in the early days with Spektrum DSM and even some Futaba radios this has been an issue in the past. The reason i am asking is my brother is having electrical problems with his DX4R on his HPI/Hotbodies R10 and the receiver is sitting right next to the exhaust.
