Thanks Yzracer... that's what I was told on the phone as well. Unfortunately, I had already soldered everything up and mounted it in my car when I realized this...

Plus, if the fan isn't really "NEEDed", I hate to be without an esc for a week or two...

I contacted Tekin and they said I probably wouldn't need the fan at all but they are aware of the issue and would replace my ESC if I wanted to send it in.

Just wanted to pass along the info in case anyone else experienced this or if anyone comes here looking for the issue.
I agree with tech support. I don't run a fan on my SCT with a 7.5 and no issues. I ran the fan with an 6.5 in the 4wd but that was due to the ESC being in the back of the car in a tight space. Otherwise I have found it is not necessary in most cases. (may not have needed it in the fan on the 4wd but better safe then sorry).

I just recieved my RSX with 6.5T motor and it too will not allow me to mount the fan. Going to be running this in a RB6.6 Buggy, do you think I will be ok or should I RMA it?

That is a little close. My gut says you are ok without the fan. Sounds like Tekin is sending out cases though so I would contact them and see what you need to do.

In both my buggy and SCTI have always had a fan with my 8.5 combo. Never had an issue with heat. I am changing to 17.5 in the buggy, so from what I am reading, i won't need a fan with a 17.5? I have room for the fan under the body, so not a space issue, but if it isn't necessary, I might take it off. Good idea?

For stock I highly recommend the RS GEN 2 as it is significantly lighter and in stock lighter is better. However I understand spending money on a new speedo is not always an option and the RSX will do the job superbly as well. I would remove the fan to remove that extra weight as the RSX will power a 17.5 without even getting warm let alone hot.

FYI. RSX with Fan is 54g and RS GEN 2 is only 26g.

Alright, thanks for the info. I just took off the fan and you are right, it is heavier than one might imagine! Also updated to the newest software/firmware, so I now I just need to receive my 17.5 in the mail!

I just want to give a big thumbs up to Tekin Tech support. Got things figured out and now have v258 firmware. Difference between 255 and 258?

Question for the tech experts about the RSX and datalogging.
I have 2 RSX esc's.
In the Datalogging I find:
ESC #1 shows throttle position at full being 82, and there is no fluctuation

ESC #2 shows a throttle position at full being 83.69 and it will fluctuate to 85.26 randomly.

I use the exact same transmitter to control both ESC's, so if it was a noisy throttle pot I would think both datalogs would show the fluctuation.
The ESC's are in 2 touring cars with the exact model receivers, same servos, and fans. The only difference is one is a 17.5 and the other is a 21.5. It is the 21.5 I see the noise in the throttle datalog.
Any ideas as to what could be going on?

Feature wise the real only change would be the addition of the new fault code for the fan being plugged in backwards/Futaba transmitter off.

The functionality is the same.

That number is a value we use to determine the throttle calibration point. Your model maybe a little different between the two. For example if you calibrate at 100% on your epa's vs 140 or 150% on some radios will show a different value in the data log.

As long as you're getting WOT or wide open throttle which you can verify with your ESC's LED tree showing all LED's ramping up and flashing you're good to go.
