Just wanted to chime in and say that this esc is still doing great. I have been using it in the 17.5 2wd buggy class and the information you get from the data logs are invaluable. I am no longer guessing on how changes effect the car but rather using solid data to make decisions. One of the big things is that I used the data logs to evaluate my current stable of 17.5 motors and was able to find the fastest one out of the bunch and then further use the information to dial it in for the track. Huge props to Tekin for bringing such an innovative feature to the market! Now I just need to hone my skills a bit more and move up to mod where I can use the potential of this beautiful piece of hardware!

Motor temps in data logs

I'm not getting accurate motor temps in the data logs. The temp shows a constant 70 degrees the whole run and it def getting hotter than that. The speedo works fine and all other data is in the logs. Any ideas why?
The motor is a Tekin gen2 6.5.

im thinking about putting a Pro 2 in my SC10.2 with my RSX, has anyone done so yet?

Yes. I used the Pro2 5100kv in my 22SCT to win the Outback Shootout at Amainhobbies.com track a few weeks ago. I ran it in dual mode with no timing advance, geared at 19/87.

This means your motor does't have a temp sensor inside of it. There are a few out there that do not.

Well, I bought the rsx last week. Went on vacation and installed it today and tried to calibrate. The chimes are very faint, can Barely hear the esc. Also, the esc after going thru the calibration steps. The esc flashes, 1,2 & 6,7. I know the instructions tells u it's a short or looses wire. Played with the wires. no bad connections. So how do I find out which of the esc or motor is shorted out??? Please help this thing was pricy!!!!

Check your voltage settings. Mine did the same thing. Or reset the esc to factory and try it from there also.

Ohh, also, your lipo may be dead..

Also make sure the esc is set in brushless motor type mode. Also try another motor to elimi the motor from the equation.

Goldfish 03-18-2014 05:48 PM

What should the voltage settings be at?

Are you using the Hotwire?

We have been working as quickly as possible to build new units to fill backorders and take care of service related matters. We are hoping to have more units ready to ship by the end of the week.

Goldfish 03-18-2014 05:55 PM

Not using hotwire. Also did make sure it was set to brushless.

What motor are you using and what lipo?

Goldfish 03-19-2014 04:55 AM

Orion vortex 6.5, venom 4500 50c saddle packs.

Bman's 3XNT 03-31-2014 05:29 AM

Just picked one of these up. Coming from a Rs Pro. Is the RSX replacing the pro? Also any known issues with the new model? Thanks!

Matt M. 03-31-2014 06:28 AM

simply put, yes and no...

yes it is a replacement for the rspro

no there are no known issues....i have a couple of these, and they are flawless...

i run them in everything from mod sprint car on the oval, to my 4wd offroad car....

Thanks for the reply. Two last questions. Does it need software updates out of the box and just to confirm gen 1 hotwire will work still using my PC? Thanks again!

Gen 1 hotwire will work no problem. Gen 2 primarliy was updated to help work better with android devices.

I would assume the ESC would come with 249 software but it would not hurt to check.

Random question... Installed my RSX in my 22 2.0, rebuilt my diff and then went to break it in.. Tried to bump the throttle trim on my radio and it wouldn't do anything.. Did I do something wrong ? Radio is Spektrum DX4R Pro. Any help is appreciated.

Did you radio calibrate yet?

Ronisonce 04-03-2014 05:38 PM

Yes, and I actually did a model reset.

model reset resets your radio..... doesn't set up or calibrate the RSX to your radio. He is asking if you put the esc into calibration mode and registered your neutral/throttle/brake input.

Ronisonce 04-03-2014 06:18 PM

I'm aware, hence the Yes followed by my 2nd statement :)

Randy_Pike 04-03-2014 08:54 PM

Ok, so are you trying to bump your trim before you power up the esc? If so that will not work, the esc will display 3 led's to one side, indicating it doens't see neutral, which it must before arming and driving the motor.

Once powered up you can trim the motor to do diff break-ins, etc.

Ronisonce 04-04-2014 05:03 AM

Fixed it. Reset everything, rebound the receiver. Did calibration on rsx, all set now. I think I may have left the bind insert in the receiver the first time when calibrating. All I know is it works now :)

abailey21 04-04-2014 06:21 AM

OK, so I haven't raced in what seems like forever.

Just getting the opportunity to slide my way back in, I have most of my cars already running RS, or RS Pro.

So your telling me If I have an android phone there's and app for the hotwire?

Randy_Pike 04-04-2014 08:07 AM

There is an App. The current one is a "beta" and doesn't work on Gen1 RS RS PRo but will shortly after the update we're fixing to release here soon.

Carranza76 04-04-2014 01:14 PM

Randy I am finally updating all my ESC's and I am doing the RSX now. I do not see any RSX set up for the 22-4 so I am using TY's Durango set up for the 8.5 motor (that what I am running in my 22-4) I see his Limiter set to 80, is that Current Limit? I just want to make sure I am setting it up correctly?

Yeah that should be fine. The setups aren't really car dependent so much as the gearing is.

The esc settings will work in any car, but the gearing for that setup/motor can vary from car to car.

Carranza76 04-04-2014 01:35 PM

Yeah didint think about gearing, I am at the 22-4 box gearing for the 8.5 at 84-20

that should be fine to start.

Thanks for the help as always!

platnumjr 04-04-2014 06:26 PM

Has anyone mounted the RSX in a b5m? My issue is i am using the 461 rx. Bigger receiver than others. I don't think i will be able to mouth that esc in there with the cap. Any Ideas? Also i read the whole thread and it seems that no one is running the fan. i will be running a 7.5 gen2 in there, 78/21. i am just nervous to run the cap over the fins ...

I know youve been working on the hotwire app to fix the usb connectivity problem..When can we expect it released?
thanks in advance
