Just wired up my new rx8 gen2 in my MIP scte. It's temporally running a tenshock sc401 v2 and was a piece of cake to setup. I've yet to plug it into the hotwire, and likely will only one time before I get my pro4 HD 4300.
It's running the truck beautifully in my basement. It won't get proper use for 3 months after winter... Just in time for the warranty to be up;)

What does the gen2 rx8 do at lvc? Slow down, sputter or stop and refuse to go? trying to trouble shoot an issue. Same question for over heating. Although, when it over heats I think all of the led's light up.

You should loose throttle until voltage recovers. You should still have steering but not be able to go.

ok, that is what is happening, but it does not recover. If you wait a few seconds and hit the throttle, its a no go. I would assume that means the pack has not recovered enough voltage. Ok, we are going to do some more trouble shooting tomorrow. It appears its hitting the lvc, as the temps are fine. It always happens with 1-2 laps to go in a 6 minute race. Tried 4-5 different pack of different capacities, all had the same issue. Might see if the data-logger is useful also. Its kinda useless on my rs gen2, because it lies, so it will be interesting to see what the rx8 logger says.

What is your LVC set to on your ESC and what is the voltage of the battery when you put it back on the charger?

custom 6v setting. it was the default, but after the issue started it was lowered. I didnt have the manual with me and I was running 3 of the 6 class last night, so it I didnt get to do proper trouble shooting. Plan to look at it more closely tomorrow. From the manual I read that the lvc error is led 1-3-5, so the plan it to run laps in practice for about 7 minutes and get the issue to happen then check the LED's. Have not had a chance to check the pack voltage yet. I highly suspect the issue is the lvc, but several packs were tried, the largest being 6500. A couple of the packs were tested to have terrible IR by my standards. Like 15 mOhm per cell. So there might be a heavy sag in voltage and causing the lvc to trip quicker. But then it didnt come back to life until the pack was replaced, I was confused. Normally, if you let the truck sit for a second it will come to life, then die again a few seconds later. But the power never returned until the pack was swapped. But by then of course temps would have also dropped. Anyway, now that I know the LVC error code, I can at least check that. Need to find/solve the issue soon, before the warranty expires on it. If I cant solve the issue tomorrow, I will take a screen shot or picture of the hotwire dashboard and post it here.

What are you running the ESC in? 6500 pack I would guess 4x SCT?

15 mOhm is a really crappy pack, so that may be giving you issues on a few fronts. I would think you are getting a lot of sag out of that but then like you said packs usually recover in a second or two to limp off the track.

I run a 7200 in a Tekno truck with lvc set to 7v and get about 12 minutes before lvc kicks so you kicking lvc within 6 minutes with a 6500... seems to be pointing at the pack. 1+ year old smc pack still comes in at about 3 mOhm on a day with temps over 70°.

Definitely check your last recorded log and see what voltage is doing near the 6 min mark. If you are seeing big dips, its jot right. Temps too but that gets up to like 260° or something crazy before thermal kicks in, you probably would have noticed that.

I have only checks the log once (have to at least once) and the voltage seemed to be correct. At the end of the practice run it started dipping below 7v and after a few dips the log was done.

yeah, I have been having issue with the datalooger on my res gen2. According to the logger, my 17.5 buggy never dropped below 8.3 volts, but, when I took the pack off it was just above 8v. And I am sure it sagged more than that during a race. Do I need to do something special outside of just running the truck, then downloading the logs from the esc and looking at them? I assume it automatically logs runs until it runs out of space, then starts to over write. I plan to clear the logs, then run a pack to make sure I am only looking at the one log.

no, I have not been. Do I need to clear it? I thought it automatically logged and then over wrote as needed? Do I need to push and hold the Inc button before the run I wish to log?

Yep you need to clear out the data. Once it is full it will not rewrite and that data you were looking at might be from the factory as they have Data in the logger from the factory and this might explain the "bad" data you were reading.

oh, wow. I figured it would age out the old logs once it was full or near full. Ok, I will make sure I clear the logs. I cleared my logs on my rs last week, so I might check them again. I am taking my laptop to the track tomorrow and plan to get fresh logs.

Just as an FYI, its pretty standard practice in IT to age out log generally speaking. The theory is that old logs are no as useful, unless for historical purposes. And for that, I would assume if you cares about historical logs, you would off load them to your laptop. As racers, we are often most concerned with what just happened in the last race. Maybe something that can be updated at a later date. Maybe even have the option to fill and stop or rotate and age out.
