Are you talking about the 1/8 or 1/10th motors. When they first released the 1900kv and 2100kv 1/8 Trackstar motors the 2100's were silver and the 1900's were red. I actually still have one of their silver 2100's here. Then they went to all the same color for both kv ratings. Don't know the reasoning there except maybe to keep cost down a tad???

If your talking about the 1/10th motors I believe the difference in color is because they are two different type design motors from what I remember when I used to run them. The silvers looks like the older Reedy motors I believe.

I am referring to the 1/10th scale motors. So what you are saying is the red ones are a newer design?

Not sure about that. I just know they changed the color of the Trackstar sensored 2100kv from silver to Red for some reason. The 1/8 Trackstars look like the exact same motor as I have some of the newer red 2100kv motors here they are just red in color like the 1900kvs.

I haven't used but one of their 1/10th motors so I can't comment much on those. I'm sure someone on here has though.

This is the 1/10th I owned before that worked flawlessly. I don't know how it compares to all the other turnigy 1/10th motors though:

Ok I think I figured it out. The red ones have a fan inside which explains the lower rpm. Looks like the silver ones are better for racing.

Not bad. Lack a lot of power compared to my sensorless setups at the same KV or turn rating though. I think that's more to do with the sensored vs sensorless than the actual motor though.

I use the 4074 2000kv version in a 1:8 truggy and a 4060 1900kv version in a 1:8 buggy. Both are great motors, good performance, good temperatures.
I own the 2000kv version more then 1 year, 1 weak point is the bearings. I already changed it to high quality ones. Probalby the 1900kv ver. will need better bearings too.
The 4060 is a shorter low weight! motor, I think ideal for 1:8 buggies. Peak amp was about 80-85A with 4S (14/46 ratio). And because of low amps, smaller size/weight a "cheaper" esc's can handle it great, like Toro/Turnigy Trackstar 120A. Or If you have enough credit Xerun SCT Pro 120A.

Running a 2650 in my 810/SCTE on 3s, beastly. Haven't had a chance to take it to the track yet but a couple blasts down the road and in a local park, man...

I run the HK X-car 120A ESC in my RB5 and love it! Brakes are a little weak in blinky.

Was wondering if anybody has ran the Red Can 13.5 Trackstar?

That was a silver can until recently. It seems the newer versions are all moving to red as well, including the ones I own. So the distinction has to be made between re-badged Reedy and a non re-badged reedy. That's the Reedy and thus is quite decent.

I recently added the Trackstar 2650kv 1/8 motor to my arsenal. Appears it's a re-badged Tenshock 6 pole. It has a ***TON** of power even on 4s. Way more than I need for a track, but was the only one available within the Australian warehouse and I needed a motor in a hurry. So far, seems excellent.

I haven't read through the entire thread yet, but I'm looking to throw a 10.5 in my 2wd SC10, along with a new ESC.

Is there a combo on the hobbyking site that you guys could recommend for me? Does the motor have to be a "SCT" model? I only drive on indoor, high bite clay tracks. (OCRC and WCRC)

I'm going to go poke around this thread some more right now.

Thanks.

You could give a look at the X-car 120A, it is a knock-off of the Xerun 2.1.

Today i tryed a Trackstar 7.5T, the new with red anodizing, in my 22T.
These motors are very good, superbly smooth, and running cool, to the point i'll sell my SP V3.0's and get a 8.5T for my 22

My 8.5t died recently after a mishap (silver can). I replaced it with the new red can ones of the same make and oh my what a difference.
I'm not sure if my last one was a bit dodgy or if this new one is a freak, but it's got noticably more power in spite of being the same motor. I am able to clear a set of doubles at my local track that I couldn't clear before using zero timing on the endbell. My last motor needed full timing and it was still slower. In fact there is a bloke who also runs at the same track that can't clear those doubles with his Tekin 8.5t, so there you go.
