Why would Savox / Spektrum have an effect on the transponder?

If the RX suffers a brown out (common with Savox servos on Spektrum receivers) it can cause the transponder to momentarily shut off and not count a lap. We had that happening at our track until we moved the loop further away a turn.

Separate issue. The transponder is subject to the same voltage sag as the receiver. The receiver contributes very little to the voltage the transponder is seeing.

The Savox servo could certainly be contributing to the missed laps issue though.

Mine all run glitch busters because I run savox. I have even tried mounting the transponder flat to the chassis away from the RX. I considered the fact that it could be caused by brownout AND where the loop was located, but nobody was jumping the loop. the loop was on a straight that had a slight bend.

The thing is I had this argument with the race director who said it was just me. BUT my father was watching laps of other drivers including sportsman who would not know better to look for a 40 second lap time and he witnessed others missing laps.

Has anyone been noticing a significant amount of missed laps with the new RC4 decoder? Our club ONLY used RC4 hybrid transponders and racers are frequenting one lost lap per race. Granted a lot of them are also running Savox/Spektrum as that is what the LHS sells, but this did not seem to be an issue prior to upgrading.

That servo receiver combo has nothing to do with it unless the every car happened to glitch right at loop....highly unlikely.

Agree... highly unlikely, which makes me think this is an RC4 decoder issue. No different than a Microsoft causing issues with Windows updates.

This happened TWICE on Saturday with two different vehicles and two different RC4 hybrid transponders. Never happened before the update. :ha:

and campaign for HobbyKing to produce a cheaper alternative to the Mylaps Monopoly!!!
I recieved an email from HobbyKing asking what products consumers would like to see next....the RC community could seriously hit a homerun if we could get someone like Hobbyking to get on board!!!

For the missed laps problem, there was talk in one of these threads about adjusting the squelch. You may need to contact the software provider to see about how to adjust it to a setting that works better for your track.

Or you can read the manual that came with it. I think the default setting is 40. Depending on your loop installation a lower setting my solve the problem.

The squelch is on the newer decoders (clear that up). Loop width and position is very important, just as important as the squelch since they go hand in hand..
