Ordered a custom number, came in 13 days... no email notification.

Sent decoder in with 8 transponders for exchange on a Sat... was at my door the next Fri.

Ordered a custom number with 2 clones 3 weeks ago... haven't heard anything.

When I did a bulk order for our track, I called and made sure they got it. I had full tracking and insurance. When I did talk to them on the phone, they get in from Holland, a new set of transponders to sell, they are usually 100, to 200 at a time. Usually split between hybrid and rc4. So you can see how they go fast... If you are getting unique id then I am sure its longer. They have to send the info to Holland, then they make it and send it out.

talked with mylaps today and they said they mailed my transponder on the 8th and to wait a few more days and see if it comes.

When I ordered my custom number (sub number of an original hybrid I had), it took months, they are not exactly quick with orders, although I do think most are coming direct from Holland, biggest laugh I got when mine arrived was the size of the package, one transponder and it was in a weirdly large box, for a second I'd thought they had send me more like 50 transponders.

well mylaps, i'm still waiting. this is starting to rub me the wrong way.

mylaps finally came through. i got my new transponder today. the first one was lost in the mail and after about 5 phone calls they sent out another.

I'm still waiting for a reasonable and rational reply to this post, especially from asc6000...

At a race last weekend, I was told by another racer that MyLaps charges an annual fee on the new decoder box, and if you don't pay it, it stops working. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is true? It doesn't mention this on the website, but does say "Decoder needs to be put online. (MYLAPS Practice)" as a condition of the update.

I am glad I took advice from people and didn't by the MRT's in the first place. Saved a bunch of money

Annual fee for the online info maybe but the decoders don't need to be connected online so there's no way for them to "turn them off" so to speak.

JimmyG 05-24-2013 06:04 PM

The track I operate, doesn't have internet, so I don't see how they can turn it off... If they did, there will be a lot of tracks upset due to the expense of buying one. As racer1812 said, they may start asking to pay for their web service so you can see your lap times. That's also based upon if the track uploads to their site..

There's new software out for the individual racers called LapWatcher. It will give the racer their own lap times and the race screen in progress. You're able to save your practice and race lap times, do comparisons of sessions, graphs, setup sheets and more.

This is broadcasted via a tracks wireless router to the racers PC or Android based smart phone or tablet in real time. No Internet needed!

This only works with JLap Race Manager software!

My club has the RC3 red box decoder with 3.3 firmware.
We also use Alycat software on the race control laptop.

The latest 4.4 RC4 firmware was downloaded.

When trying to update the firmware the update program could not connect to the decoder.
The decoder is plugged into the pc via serial to usb adaptor.

Any help with understanding the update process from RC3 to RC4 will be appreciated as I cannot figure it out on the Mylaps website and have sent them an email but not received an answer yet.

I think the update is designed to be done via the network connection, I'm not sure it's supported vis the serial port, could be, but we use our decoders via the network ports, and the update program I used searched for the decoder via the network when it did the update.
