Hey guys, so im just gonna lay it out there, im a total idiot when it comes to electronics, or so i feel.... I have a losi SCTE that started as ready to run and i upgraded to a used airtronics m11 transmitter and a hitec hs-645mg servo. My questions are 1.) my servo seems to turn quite slow, i have the transmitter settings cranked up so is the servo just not a very fast one? and 2.) would i need any special setup to run a high torque/high speed servo? i am running the stock losi motor/esc which i believe is a rebranded mamba max system? i jsut feel as my steering is holding me back in the races and would love to fix that. any help is appriciated.

Personally yes, you could see some benefit from a faster and higher torque servo. The big question is how much you want to spend? Ball park figure for a good quality servo is gonna be 80-100 bucks, but it's money well spent..IMO

speed is a personal preference but I would want at least 180-200 oz. of torque

I run nothing slower than .10 for transit speed. It may not be needed but once you are used to driving with faster servos you won't want to go back..again IMO

also, the servo is a few years old... deffinatley could be loosing some of its punch. i noticed on a-main the torque specs vary depending on the input voltage... how do you go about changing that?

Keep the esc as it is a good one. If you run into glitching problems with your new servo, add an external castle bec. Get a castle link/field programmer and your golden. If your track will let you, run the stock 2800 motor on 3s. If they have a 2s limit, then gear up to around 19-20 tooth pinion.

you don't, really.

the lower voltage specs come from running 4 cell nimh or a 1 cell lipo..Like you would use in a 12th scale carpet car.

If you're running a 2 cell lipo or 6-7 cell nimh your specs will always be the higher voltage. Nothing to set or change.

Personally I like the specs of the XP1015 servos..200oz/.10 transit, I run them in everything from 2wd buggy to my 1/8th scale

JR 9000s is also nice, have a couple of them.

Savox are cheaper and for good reason..noisy and seem to be power hungry. They work and tons of people use them. I have 2 (they were free) but I personally am happy to spend the extra 20-30 bucks for better quality.

cool, thanks guys! and i did read up on how to program my esc through my transmitter, so ive jsut been using that for the time being, and im pretty happy with the motor/esc combo, shot me to first place in pro-4 at my local track numerous times. i jsut geared it up and added a heatsink/fan to help with temps. il save some pennies and go for a better servo and hopefulluy it fixes my issue
