Great thanks for the info. Will definitely pick up a couple.

New shipment coming in on Tuesday and here are the models in this shipment.

4600-70C-2S shorty

4300-50C-2S shorty

5600-70C-2S inboard and Deans

6500-70C-4S

I ordered my first SMC batteries last week (7200-70c-2s inboard) after all of the amazing feedback I've been reading about these. Obviously they're on backorder. Are you expecting enough coming in to cover current backorders?

It it normal for the packs to get warm after a run? They also seem to expand ever so slightly, where the case feels snug compared to when cold. I'm a little worried that this will only get worse over time.

These are 7200mah 2s race formula packs on a tekno 4x4 with 4600/rx8 after 5-8 minutes.

Happens to mine too. They shrink back down when they cool. I have close to 50 cycles on mine and no permanent puffing or drop in power.

Haven't had any problems with mine puffing, but my velineon pulls a lot less current than your system does. Great packs. Lots of punch. Best packs I've bought.

My hobbywing motor is now alive due to these packs. Went from "wimpy wimpy wimpy" to "HEFTY HEFTY HEFTY". The punch and overall power is world's better than my season-old nanotec packs.

Thanks, that helps. I purposely didn't get the 550 4pole because I figured it would be that much harder on the batteries. This is with the RX8 tuned to 55% CL and it still has more power than I can put down.

told you...

i had the exact same thing happen to me. i was running not even a season old nano's (probably 30 or so cycles). i bought an SMC for the heck of it and it was like a totally different system. like going up two teeth or something like that. the difference was dramatic. you just don't notice the drop off from inferior batteries that start falling off right after the first charge. you may notice it if you only race the same track weekend after weekend, but if you have a couple different tracks that change their setup's at all, it's hard to notice for us average joe's. until you put the SMC in there.

I've been thinking of giving these packs a try. It's between these and the racers edge 6000 75c packs for my Tekno 410sct. Currently I'm running 6600 nano tecs and they seem to be running well, just want to see if the grass is greener on the other side and it sounds like it is!

CentralCoaster 04-29-2013 11:00 PM

My nano 6000s couldn't even handle a MMP+3800 system on my SC10 4x4 which was tame and a little slow. They'd puff so much you could not remove them.

For some dumb reason I gave them a 3rd chance on Aspec shorty packs. They have great punch for the first half of the race then begin to noticeably drop off to where I have to double instead of triple. Lesson learned. Next time I won't go cheap, especially on stock class.

I run Nano-tech A-spec saddles in my SC10 4x4 with a RX8 and pro4 4600 setup. They works great, plenty of punch and great run times. A-spec stick batteries in my SCT410 with the same setup did not fair as well. Truck felt slow, not as much punch, way too much heat and first run puffing. It's just too heavy and the amp draw to much for those packs. I now run Race formula and Factory spec packs in my SCT410. As I said before, I get very slight puffing after a hard run but it's only due tot he slight warming while in use. It completely goes away after a few cool down minutes. I am also running a pro4 4300HD 80% CL now and I have nothing but good things to say about both of these packs. Excellent punch and after a couple break in runs they have plenty of power for an 8 minute main. These are now my only choice for batteries.

I'm glad i took your word and picked up a couple. My truck is actually raceable now!:D

So are we getting packs today?

BLbound 04-30-2013 10:50 AM

I just ordered 2 6500 7.4 traxxas plug hard cased packs...just figured I'd change the plug to deans when I get them. Can beat the price! Thanks SMC!
