Yes its normal. Its because the ESC does not turn everything off just because you turn it off.
That is why you MUST unplug the battery when you are done running. If you leave it plugged in and turned off it will kill the battery.
One guy at a race left it plugged in turned off the switch and after a while started on fire. This happened after he loaded it in his vehicle. Only good thing was he had it in the bed of his pickup truck & someone else noticed it before it damaged his truck.

Do you guys happen to know the weight of the square pack?

Danny will post all that info on the site when he receives the packs, I know he had some test packs but I am sure he will wait to post the specs until the he has the actual production packs in stock.

So I'm obviously new here, and maybe this is a touchy subject, or a faux pas on my part, but why can't Danny post on here? I found some posts from him and he seemed very knowledgeable and professional, and the thread is about his batteries. If this is not something to post on here, you can PM me too. Thanks

RcTech wanted advertising money from Danny to post here. Danny prices his lipos low because they are direct to us with no middle man and no advertising expense.
Danny refused and left.

The rules are odd, you can answer questions which he did. You cant answer when somethings going to be back in stock because you just solicited your product or something like that.
I saw Danny's posts as informative and replying to questions but RcTech saw it as advertising.

It's a real shame that RcTech handled it like this, he was the only lipo company on here and he took time to answer our questions with a wealth of information to share.

Just ordered a saddle pack. Local racer loaned me a reedy last night to try out my new 22-4 and I am now a HUGE fan of 4x4 buggy racing again. 70c saddle pack should really wake the truck up!

rctech wanted him to advertise. For x3 the amount he pays to rcgroup, he could have his own section, but cannot continue posting here like he was, everything had to be in the SMC section they would create. Originally he just wasn't aloud to post prices, but then they got stricter then banned him. He may or may not be un banned now but won't be posting any more. rcgroups is where you need to look now or email him, or of course his facebook group. At the end of the day, everything is about money, as was the choice of the rctech admins

He is not banned anymore, but is listed as "Company Representative" under his username

Just a quick question for those that seem to be in the know...How does the cold effect lipo batteries? I am wondering due to the recent weather around here with highs around-6*F. I prefer to keep my batteries in the garage but I am worried about the cold and condensation when they come in. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks
Mark

colder temps raise the IR and the voltage will drop. While i prefer to keep my at house temp of 75deg, if I were you I would definitely make sure they are storage charged for those temps.

Just a quick note about the SMC Shorty packs. I've been running it in my Durango DEX210 with a Speed Passion 6.5T. It's awesome. I have great power all the way through. Can't beat the price and support that Danny provides. I just had a quick question and he got back to me within a few minutes via website email. Yeah a few minutes. NOBODY is that fast in RC sales and technical support. Thanks SMC! I'll be buying more batteries soon!

I don't think he was ever banned. He got a week or two infraction for answering questions and chose not to come back.

Same buggy, same story... a little difference, your MM, I'm RM.

Was using a reedy 6500 60c stick cuz that's the smallest stick I have. No exit steering.
Got the race shorty and got my exit steering and no loss in punch at all... given the weight loss to offset the loss in max discharge amps I suppose. Maybe even picked up some acceleration.

My 7200 is going on past a year old in heavy SCT rigs and still super strong, I expect the shorty under much less stress should go for years :tire:

So I ran my SMC 17.5 today for the first time and it was as fast as my D3.5 with a ceramic stator and high RPM rotor. I put the timing around 55 degrees and gearing was at 33/72. Both the motor and speedo were barely warm to the touch.
Happy customer.
Blake

The shorties are out of stock right now. Any idea how long before they are stocked up again?
