SMC LIPO BATTERY THREAD

danny, i had a thought tonight i was trying to research. all i could find was this so i quoted it. i recently upgrade to 24 volt charging and opted to get the tp820cd.
my question is. would it be better to charge each single of the saddle separately on each port of the charger? or a pointless thought and just charge them with the saddle wires?

Great post as I 100% agree with this. Some told me they use inboard because it looks better but racing shouldn't be a beauty contest.
I had a customer 4 years ago tell me the IR of his packs had gone up as he was using the GFX to get the IR and voltage after discharge. He was putting the voltage sensing leads at the male Deans. This way he got the data through the connectors. I asked him how many cycles he had on the pack and I doubted the IR would of gone up. I told him to replace his male and female Deans and test them again and he told me the IR was right back to where it was when the packs were new. It's normal for the IR to go up as the pack gets used but if your connectors wear out with a wired pack you can replace them. With inboards your screwed.

Tom if you catch up with SMC on facebook, I know danny and the crew do a great job of posting what they are getting in on the next shipment. I haven't pre ordered anything so I am not sure the wait, but I would safely presume 1-2 weeks max on a regular lipo maybe 3-4 max on something that isn't such a normal size or request.

There is no specific time for when we will fill out pre-orders. We're at the mercy of the factory. For the 7200s with Deans these will be in late next week.

since i only run outside i can test some what. i plan to try the saddles out for this truck. I have already have documented how many run my first pack has already with a run time for the minutes also. this was my first lipo so im curios on how long it will last. i always balance charge it too. and since he did say dirt is bad look like i will be blowing out the in boards tubs to get a good connection i guess and keep it clean.

Thanks guys! I can't wait to try these out in my tekno sct410 next weekend. Without running them yet, I'm already impressed by the quality of the pack and I love that you can get deans already installed. Makes my life easier

With inboard connectors the tubs end up getting dirty and wear out. Depending on the type of track you run at this may or may not mean a premature end of life for your pack. I'd bet that if one took a survey of melted connectors the inboard packs would have a higher occurrence of melted connection points than wired packs. If inboard vs wired is an option and wired works on your chassis then always go with wired.

I posted about this because alot of people think the included bullets are what they are supposed to run. They work for a while then you melt the case around the tube hole and seek something better. That's why I posted. These are the best I've found in the 4mm variety.

I'm thinking of getting these for the SMC 6500 70c 3s lipos for the road car. Probably not necessary but nothing in rc really is.

Most of the batteries come with lame bullet connectors for charging use only, it even says it on most of the boxes and or instruction sheet. I use these exclusivly and highly recommend them. These really last and conduct current really well. Make sure you get the long version as I've had the short ones pop once or twice under extream circumstances on my B44 after a really bad chassis slap lol. But the long ones I linked to never come out.

After a run touch your connector and if it's not hot then it's handling the amps fine.
I have done up to 80amps constant on 4mm tubes , Deans and Traxxas with no melting but they did get pretty hot.
