Press the setup button wile switching it on will reset the ESC to the factory default settings.
Yes, but I would change the initial drive to a higher value for 21.5. The factory default is only 1%.

Default A little boost timing visualiser for your use...

Hey Guys,

as finding the right boost timing still seems tough for some guys, I felt it is time to release my little excel chart for you...
I had prepared this a few years ago already but obviously didn't have use for it the last few years myself as I'm not working in RC anymore...

I found this visualisation always very good to compare different settings or gear ratios.

Hopefully it is self-explaining which field relates to what setting on your speedo.
In case there are questions, let me know!

Has the FlowX been ROAR approved? I do not see it on the list. Asking because the ROAR Carpet Onroad Nationals are within a month.

Picked up a flow works esc off someone else which they put the modified off road firmware

I'm wanting to use it in blinky 21.5t TC. Does the factory reset only reset the settings and not firmware as I tried it and I'm confused with the next point...

Mode 1 flashing red - auto brake?
Mode 2 medium flashing orange light - 10 options
Mode 3 fast flashing orange light - 10 options
Mode 4 flashing blue light - torque timing?

After this, the flashing lights follow the original instructions.

Which mode is to set initial drive? I assume this is punch?

Is brake set at a default strong level and I should turn down on the end point on my radio?

Should I just update the firmware to the v5.4 stock firmware? Unfortunately I don't have the bridge yet

Ok - I googled again and someone mentioned modes two and three are brake mode and initial brake. Mode 4 is initial drive? Will test this tomorrow and then see by the amount of available flashes

Feels like breaking some code in a modern indiana Jones movie...

Factory reset only resets the settings, not the firmware version. Download the file for the modified off-road firmware and it'll have an updated set of instructions tailored to that firmware included.

I'm running a LRP Flow works with a 5.5 turn X20 in mod sprint right now with no problems. Trying to figure out if I move this ESC to a SCMod and want to run a LRP 3000-5000kv motor will that be ok. This would be a 4 pole motor type. looking at a 4000 right now.

Per my IM via Facebook with LRP, I asked the question and LRP stated that the Flow X has been submitted to ROAR

Just upgraded to v5.4 and on max initial drive... Just wow...

I haven't tested it in my street but initial drive on max setting reminds me of the punch from a 5.5t motor versus a 6.5t (free spin with no load, plus I'm using a 21.5t. Closest analogy I could use)

Is anyone using the flow works for 21.5t TC and if so what initial drive do you suggest? Running on low medium bumpy asphalt technical

My previous esc was the v2.1 HW where at max punch was possibly half the strength of full initial drive with v5.4 firmware. I'm thinking this could be very good getting out of 180 degree turns....

I haven't received it. Further, I have received no communications from LRP regarding it. I suppose they could have sent it to the wrong person, but I can't imagine who that might be; the ROAR application form hasn't changed in several years, and that's still my address at the bottom of the form:

Whoa.

Shit just got serious.

And based off the application sheet posted, even if they submit the Flow X for approval tomorrow, it still wouldn't be legal for use at Roar Nats.

As stated on the application:

ESCs can be submitted at any time, but it must be approved AND available at retail locations 30 days prior to a ROAR event to be used in competition.

I've been wondering lately about the ROAR availability clauses and whether they still apply. TSR motors for example are not available in production quantities from at least 3 retail outlets as per the requirements. You have to backorder direct from their website (or at least this was the case last I checked), and yet they're still approved.

why does it even matter? the ROAR rule book only refers to the ESC list under VTA (8.7.10.2).... no other section in 8.7 (electric vehicle classes) mentions anything about the roar approval for ESC - AFAICT anyway - unless hidden somewhere and not searchable in the document.

and under equipment usage, 12.4.1, it lists motors, batteries and bodies - nothing about ESCs

this may well be an oversight - but rules are rules, eh?

I'm not even sure if any retail outlets sell TSR motors. I was lead to believe that they had to be ordered directly from them, same as R1 and a few others. I could be wrong.
