I'm pretty sure its the same cap as the Novak cap. 4700mf

Matt really is a nice guy and a major help. After the update my Spektrum felt so much better. The response was just awesome. You really feel more in tune with the car. I would really recommend that anyone with older units think about sending them in for the update. Its so worth it.

I also had problem with my spektrum shutting down when i hit my throttle hard on straight line. I know that I had a choice to add Lipo battery to the receiver but this thing cost money (battery and charger) and make my 1/12 car heavier. Guess what I did, i switched back to old L3 chassis and been runnin' it with 5 cells. Problem solved and I get extra power for large track.

i'm not sure why you guys are bothring trying to sort out a problem that the manufactures should be dealing with to me it sounds like we are all be riped off what spektrum should be doing is either fixing the problems or at least put a lable on the product saying SPEKTRUM 2.4 MAY NOT WORK VERY WELL IN 1/12 CARS (OR ANY CAR ON CARPET) AND NOT FOR USE FOR ANYBODY WHO CRASHES. :(

DavidAlford 02-15-2006 01:26 PM

Well first I never had a problem in my 12th scale that a cap didnt fix. And Spektrum is offering free updates. So there ya go.

there you go you said it your self! This product shouldn't need fixing the only gripe ive got with the system, you spend all that money on a fantastic concept and you spend half the time pulling out of race's and sending the product back for repair. Ive been two weeks with out mine now as it travels half way across the world to have a longer aerial in the modual and a software upgrade why wasn't this problem sorted before it went into mas production :(

DavidAlford 02-15-2006 03:48 PM

Atleast they know there is a problem and are doing everything they can to fix it.

purpurite 02-15-2006 03:53 PM

I ran Spektrum in 2 different 12th scale cars all winter with ZERO problems to speak of; no caps, no diodes... not even a radio pack. The more I look into the issues I am having, I am not so sure that mine is Spektrum-related. I'm going to try the battery swap tonight to see if it persists.

thing is - I didn't have any problems in my 1/12th (aside from a really old and ultimately faulty esc that actually blew up when I swapped with my touring car. . .heh. . .) and haven't had any problems in my nitro or my TC4.

See, we're in the minority here - huge majority is NOT having these problems. As was posted earlier, if over 100 of these things showed up at Snowbirds, there's not as many problems as you're thinking - of course, you're only concerned with your problem - which is normal and right.

but they didn't release a "defective" product any more than Ford released a "defective" product when they released their new F150, even though it's already had several voluntary recalls.

Actually at my track MOST had problems. Its now down to a few with trouble, those that sent theirs in are mostly OK now...... the point is why is a product sold thats only useable after its sent back?... quality control costs extra and most products here and elsewhere arn't rigorously tested for production issues (wire lengh, location etc) 'cause it would raise the price (we get no choice here)

end rant

I just want to find out whether there is anyone out there having the same problem as I have. I bought a brand new LRP Sphere competition and put it to my 1/10 pan car.

Guess what, this thing caused my Spektrum to glitch at large track near the array of steel fence. Unbelieveable!! cause i thought 2.4 GHz is far above any common noise and interference.

With my old Novak SS, this thing has never happened to me. With GTB ESC, i experienced minor glitch at the furthest spot of the track. With Sphere competition, it went full throttle at the furthest spot where I was supposed to brake for a hairpin after long straight.

Any help is appreciate and let me know if I need to send my unit back to the manufacturer for replacement.

Need some help

I need some help with my spektrum setup. I'm running a KO EX1 Mars R Transmitter in a BJ4 with LRP Sphere Brushless setup. The problem I'm having is this:

On somewhere between the 1st and 4th lap the system will lose connection and therefore lose power on one section in the middle of the track. The car loses connection on the face of a double jump and lawn darts into the face of the landing. The car will then power back up and go again. This will happen maybe 2 times per heat. It's always in the same spot and it's always within the first 4 laps.

Any thoughts on what's going on here? I've tried swapping out recievers, I've checked and double checked the internal Antenna wiring. I'm running out of Ideas.

Thanks,
Blake

Its not the spektrum that needs fixing... its the weak BEC output of some ESC's that SUCK and need to be fixed.

I run ALL LRP QC/2. Have had problems with the BEC and spektrum on all of them. I put my spektrum in a different car for a 12 hour enduro using an old Cyclone speed controll, and it worked perfectly for the whole entire 12 hours. My team won the $1000 prize....

Low BEC just sucks. Even without spektrum, your servo isn't working as well as it could with higher voltage and better current.

tcmerf 02-19-2006 07:09 PM

I have a KO VFS. What should i set the BEC to for the Spectrum.

RCGaryK 02-19-2006 07:10 PM

Turn it all the way up to 4.0v. Mine works perfect like that, and I have 2
