That'll be $5....:D By the way, before the capacitor was on there, I tried both my 4735, and 4750....They both did the same exact thing you described. Have the 4735 in the car now with the cap and it works great. I think the steering is faster now than before. Acctually, thats a good idea. I should sell the cap's, wired up for use. That way I could make a few $$ off my discovery...:sneaky: |
There is a much more interesting article in the latest issue of R/C Driver (IIRC) which address the response time issue. The story goes that early on in the design they used one method of frequency control that had poor repsonse time. After which, they began using a faster method which has much faster response time than that of current transmitters (as quoted prior about the M8). I'd be guessing that the team drivers had early units that were slow????

Thats possible.
It could also be a manifestation of the voltage depression by the extra load of the receiver on the BEC. Less voltage to servo=slower servo. |
I just can't believe all the boasting they did about the extensive testing . I dont believe i have ever been more disapointed in a product or a company for the way they have handled this. Just curious to see if the second one ( if it ever gets here ) will work or not.

PitCrew is correct, it also helps on A LOT of standard Tx/Rx issues also.

The Cap solution makes sense.
In the recent RCCA article they make mention that while the Transmitter draws less power on your batteries, the reciever actually draws more power than a normal reciever. Something like Double if I remember correct. They quickly mention this problem but then cover it right up by saying how much more power your saving on your transmitter. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could care less about my transmitters draw! The most important is the recievers draw. I don't see how they could have missed this in all the "testing" they say they did. Oh, well. Time will tell. |
They didn't miss it in the testing. They come right out and say it draws more power. The problem lies in speedos that have a low BEC output like the Quatum 2 that I am running. It only puts out 1.6 amps. Just not enough to run the servo motors and keep the receiver locked on.
With the cap on there everything works fine, except the button to "Bind" on the transmitter. Lukily I got it to go once in 500 tries. :rolleyes: |
i'll have to try this... i use a qc2, and it linked up the first time... i'm gonna go find a cap now :)

thanx Someone who has this please test it like this..... using the old rec run 20 laps alternate rec to spektrum run 20 laps old rec 20 laps spektrum 20 laps repeast this until you have 5 or 6 runs with each set up take all your lap times with each system drop the 5 fastest and slowest take the average of each Is the a difference and what is the difference????? It would be great to see test results from various people running under different conditions |
I used my spektrum last Saturday at an indoor offroad track and it seemed to work fine, but I don't like the idea of wondering if it is working at 100% or not. On carpet I could see where guys could feel a difference because carpet is so precise, in offroad you may not feel it as much because your car is being tossed around anyway through the jumps and bumps, but if it's there it's still got to be hurting you. I too would like to hear Horizon's point of view and what if anything they plan to do about it. Again mine seemed to be working fine and I love this technology, but when you invest so much money into a weekend of racing you also want to know everything is working right.
