Hey Gary (or whomever),
I'm looking at buying a couple Spektrum 3000 receivers but the seller doesn't know the age(s) for sure or if they've been updated with the anti-stat hdwr/sftwr, etc. Is there any way for lay-persons to figure out if this has been performed? What is the procedure/cost for getting these upgraded assuming (and I am) they haven't been?
Thanks,
Scottrik

As far as I know, there's no way of telling if the rx's have been updated or not without some sort of diagnostic equipment that I'm sure only Horizon has. However, I'm almost positive that if you send the rx's in to Horizon they'll do the update and ship it back to you for free or for just a small fee.

Hey Scott, No you can't tell what software version your receivers have. The solution is easy though, just send them in. To software upgrade is FREE, you just have to pay to have them shipped in. Basically just include a note inside with the receivers saying you'd like to have the firmware updates, and you're good.

Hey guys, I know I said this would be up earlier than this but we've had some back-end technical issues. Needless to say the iHobby videos are now up and on-line, including my interview with Mike Sieniarecki from Spektrum with the DX3R. Check out the link below to view it.

Does anyone know if the spektrum micro dsm receiver will solve a low voltage concern with a novak GTB esc? I've tried a capacitor and new batteries and still will dump on me right before a jump when I hit the throttle. Just curious because I see that the micro receiver works on a lower voltage, wondering if that would help?
Thanx

had an issue with my spektrum this weekend on my Futaba 3VC and using the pro system (not the hrs) and the 3500 receiver, raced all day, no issue, come the final, car refused to play, esc was telling me that it was getting no signal, light on the receiver was going on and off randomly.
Brought car home, everything fine, some pointers if you could please?

We all have our off days, as you know how my racing wednesday :S It never happens in qualifying does it, lol.
Just some very hit and miss things to try.
Different cells (weak cell?) rebind the tx to rx, did you take a hit before it stopped working?
About the only things I could suggest you try. Or another reciever if someone has one you could try.

Right, but that's why I was asking when it failed, did everything fail, just no throttle response?

I had a problem with my SR3000 3PK Spektrum receiver today. Mid race, and mid corner I lost all power and braking, and my steering locked causing me to run straight into the back of someone. My car rolled to a stop with no power. After inspection I found that my receiver seemed to be off. The light that would signal connection with the transmitter was off. So I tried to rebind it but the light wouldnt come on to bind it. So it seems something has gone wrong with it and I would suspect it needs repair? Another thing I noticed was that the receiver was still supplying power to my PT.
Can anyone comment or give advice on what to do? Will it be under warrenty? (it's probably 12-18months old) If I open it to have a look am I likly ot void any warrenty I may have?
Cheers

Try a 2200uF 10v low-ESR capacitor in one of your receiver slots. I have had that problem with the bluebird servos. You should be able to replicate it on a stand. Just turn the wheel left and right quickly in succession, and you'll see that the receiver would loose connection with the TX. Putting a cap on the RX would help it maintain a consistent voltage and not letting the RX drop out.
