I have used these for 2 years now,the 2s 40c 5000mah I have never had an issue with. The 4s 40c 5000mah on the other hand have been horrible, between my own batteries and Batteries from two other local racers we have lost over a dozen batteries in the last 5 months we all run 1/8 EBuggy. Opening the batteries up resulted in three issues.
1- Solder joints are crap on the tiny balance wires, fairly easy to fix
2- Solder Tabs on the cells are too weak for the Primary positive and Negative lines the tabs tear off from the cells and dont leave enough material on the cell to fix.
3- The foil covers of the cells rubs through super easily with the shoddy double back tape that is used. The tape doesnt hold for beans and the case has far to much excess room allowing the cells to move around.
I recently started rebuilding the packs, up to 5 good packs from 9 bad ones, couple things that you should do if you plan on using these for off road. Reinforce the Solder with something like a single part sealer, i prefer this over hot glue as it stays semi sift and absorbs impact better, and wrap the entire bundle of cells with Electrical tape 3-4 times this will help take up the extra space inside the case. So far the 5 I have been able to rebuild this way have held great.

My 4s 5000 pack went bad. The internal connection on the positive side completely broke off. I'm not sure what to do to make it into a 3s pack. Anyone have a diagram? I might just sell it for $25 to someone who knows how to fix it. I tried but it wont hold up for me. 2x2s packs for me from now on!

However... The 2S2P 65C packs are fairly new and there hasn't been much feedback on them. Also, the 2P part means there are 4 cells in that case (like the 4S). More cells = more solder joints = more potential points of failure. Hopefully you won't have any problems. Please report back to this thread with your experience after using them for a while. It would be good to know how they do.
On a positive note, I've recently been doing some testing of my own on 5000 mAh "sport" packs under $60 and comparing them to a Reedy 65C 6500 competition pack. One of the Gen's Ace 2S1P 50C packs that I regrettably sold performed as well as the Reedy in my "voltage under load" test. Both packs were relatively new. So the performance on Gen's Ace packs is there, it's just the quality control issues and customer support that people sometimes struggle with.

It's the 4S packs most people complain about. The 2S1P 40C and 50C packs have held up pretty well for me. I've had 8 of them over the past few years and can't really complain about the quality. I've had one of the 40C packs melt the solder joint internally because I accidently put a dead short on it (darn bullet connectors). I was able to repair it and it still works well. I've also had one puff slightly and lose performance after a very hot day of racing and abusive charging while the pack was warm. Never had a problem with the other 6 and the ones I still have are performing well.

I just bought 2 of the 65C 2S packs. One of them is perfectly fine however the other will not balance. It will charge just fine on my charger however my charger will time out at 120 min and it will not balance. The pack seems to work fine I'm just not sure for how long. Has anyone else had this problem?

I received my lipo in the mail today I checked the balance right away and it was dead on so I didnt bother to balance it. I fully charged the battery and did a discharge with a cut off at 3.2v per cell it dropped off right around 4800 mah holding above 7.4 right before the battery dropped so it looks like its a pretty good pack for 50 bux ill be running it this weekend so I will report back on how well it does in 17.5 touring.class.

Well, I finally got my replacement battery from HobbyPartz. I soildered on a deans connector and placed on the charger and it gave me a connection break error first thing. I've tried different charge leads, changed ports on the charger, even hooked up other batteries to make sure the leads and charger haven't crapped out me. Tested the battery with a volt meter and it's showing 15.4 volts, charger still says connection break. I'm thinking the battery has something wrong inside with either the charge leads or balance leads. Any suggestions on what else to check before I contact they again?

So I'm guessing the shorty release was all rumore huh? Thing is now I bought some venom shorties and really like them. Also looking into Venom across the board because their quality is really good. Still like my Gens but I'm now open to other ideas which I was not before.
