I was using the 4000mah too. With not problem. I will find out about the 3800mah shorty packs. I will let you know.

You've obviously never really listened to that stuff.

My son and I have switched to racing all Gens Aces packs..
I've found that the 40C packs have more punch and less sag then any of my other packs (some of which were 3 times as much) not to mention my 50C packs.

Excellent packs!

Needed some help I also have a 4s lipo that the tab broke off of. I resorted it but I thought I needed to take the balancer plug off. When I did that 2 od them touched I took me a sec to get them apart. I also did not mare the wires when I took them out of the plug so I'm not sure it I just have them plugged in wrong or something else. It still charges fine with out the balancer plugged in, and it runs in my buggy. Anyone have any idea on the order od the plugs?

Not trying to sound like a d#$% but when you take apart a lipo battery you need to act like you're a surgeon. Taking wires off and resoldering them the wrong way could make the pack blow up in your face. I use a camera/video to show how things come apart. Or just draw a diagram and mark which wire came off of what. There are diagrams on the net that show how to wire a pack but I couldn't find any pictures of actual packs showing how the wiring goes. GL.

Problem with good cheap batteries, a few find them and go to Jang of URC to review them. He does and if he says their good the 10 year olds just go crazy recommending them to anyone. Ebay sellers get wind of this and go buy the packs in qtys of 20+, putting plugs on them and selling for nice $25 profit. The 10 year olds eventually save up their allowance and see they're out of stock so they get them from the sellers on ebay.

Just a theory.

I've got a DEX210 (my first entry into the buggy world) and would like some battery advice. I haven't had the chance to get it to the track yet but I've been messing around at home with my 5000/40c packs that I use for my 4wd SCT. I'm wondering if I should get something a little smaller to cut back on the weight of the battery? Would saddle packs be better? Wish GensAce made shorties :(

recomendations for a gens ace pack for a 1/8 buggy i am converting to electric

for what my opinion is worth... I bought two gens ace 4S packs (the 5000's, what are they again, 40C?) lightly used from someone who takes big care of his stuff and had only used them for one raceday recently, as he switched from a homemade Dex408 conversion to the official 2x2S one (official 'rango driver).

First - he had 3 packs for sale initially. One of them had puffed during storage. He simply refused to sell it to me, but I saw it... He had stored them at 3.85V (I saw the pack and measured it)

Second - I rewired them to Deans (yeah I know it isn't the craze these days but that's my standard and it works well for me ;) ), but I tried to save the bullet plugs as I use them also (just not for that app). That was easy as they simply weren't soldered properly, more like a cold joint. That means hi-res when ran hard... same on both packs.:spidey:

Third - the spread between cells on BOTH packs is the highest I've seen. Even with a 3.4V/cell cutoff on my MBX6Eco, there's one cell on each pack that is about .03V or .04V lower than the others. Of course, balancing the darn thing when charging back the pack takes ages. My $40 Turnigy 4500's always end up within less than 0.01V after a run... :cry:

Fourth - no more runtime than my 4500 30C turnigy ones :rolleyes:

Fifth - no more punch than my 4500 30C turnigy ones either :ha:

Were there poor batches of these packs? I can't believe the previous owner which I know very well and for years would have mistreated his packs, really.
