I'm looking into possibly changing my motor in my Tekno sct410. I currently run the Viper VF4.40 and it is a torque monster. I would like to get a motor that has a little more top end and was looking at the VF4.45. Has anyone ran both motors, how do they compare?

I have both motors. Ran the 4.45 last year but it was in a sc10 4x4. This year I went Teckno (AE doesn't have a competitive 4wd SC anymore)and put the 4.40 in it. The 4.40 is a little mellower but there's not a huge difference between them but the 4.45 definitely has more. If you can put the power down the 4.45 would be your best bet to keep up with the 550's, and I believe it can. At the tracks I visit I get more with a little less for traction reasons.

Thanks for the input. I have more power than I need down on the bottom end, I think I may try to go up one more tooth on the pinion gear, and see how that works. What size gear are you running on the 4.40?

16t, medium size track mainly technical but one long straight which makes it seem a touch under geared. But the rest of the track is half throttle with a couple of burst. Temps about 130 after 7 minutes so it can go up.

We don't have to bad mouth Viper, there are enough people out there for that to be taken care of.

I wanted to say to try harder to get your hands on them.

It was my 1st post in this thread. I have been buying more of what works and I am too cheap to buy another programming device so now I have a few Vipers. I like to get electronics that let me relax and worry about other things. Great support from my LHS helps too.

I like the 4.45 better in the tekno, it runs a little cooler on our medium short medium grip track.

I think we can all keep the topic of the posts related to this thread -- others have their own threads to answer questions.

In 4wd SC - I would think 90% of the a 4500 is more the way to go, especially if your straights are over 100 feet long. Shorter than that, 4000 can tend to be easier to work with, just simply because you only have so much room to work in.

We seriously thank all those that have stuck with us.... our goal has always been to create high performance products, with great quality and give our customer great service. That part will never change. And as the landscape of r/c electronics changes (and grows), we will also, so we had to take a step back... but as we move into the fall/winter season, the stuff will start coming in a good pace.

I just bought two Viper Black Edition Motors, one is a 17.5 with H.T. rotor and the other is a 13.5. I was wondering what these motors like for timing? I will be using the motors in two dirt oval cars(indoor hard packed clay).
Thank you
Dave

Ive recently gotten a vst 8.5t motor which ill be using in a tlr22t 2.0 stadium truck and wondering how different in ratios would be regarding the standard 12.5mm vs 12.8mm high torque rotor.
Cheers

You should feel more bottom end power from the high torque, probably would not need to be that different overall in gearing. Maybe a tooth higher, its going to depend on the track, layout and traction available.

hi all. can anyone help me decode what may be going on here, VTX10R BE with a Tekin 6.5 turn was running fine at first, then stopped in the middle of track. esc showing solid red light on the F and solid green on the N. cant access programming and the only way to turn it off is by unplugging the batteries/doesnt respond to any button/ez link inputs, except turning on. motor beeps twice turning on, then no throttle/no response. have tried sensor leads. any advice?

Is there anyone from Viper or its "service" center/representative who can help me sort this out. I have emailed viper, tried calling with no answer, emailed, tried asking on forums, contacted Amain (where I purchased from) who are - thank goodness - offering to assist, waited and waited, but am running out of patience quickly. I purchased in may and now it is August, meanwhile i had to purchase another ESC (different brand of course) to be able to race. Totally unacceptable.

NOTE: I have gone through all troubleshooting with this ESC, but after turning on, it just freezes, no access to calibrate mode, no access to programming mode, in fact, even the on/off button does not work once on and has to be disconnected from the battery. It had run for about 4 seconds when i first went to use it, the length of our straight at the track. I am not a beginner neither is it my first ESC, but almost definitely the last from Viper. :flaming::flaming::flaming:

sounds like you could have just gotten a lemon, were you able to upgrade the firmware to the current black edition A64 upon receiving it, if not already from factory??

I had a slip of paper in box saying it was running the latest firmware. Not the fact it is a lemon that is annoying, but I cannot contact anyone to fix it.

not sure if you said you had usb programing link cable, but id suggest try reflashing the firmware, as that is what they would get you to do from customer help anyways.

You can PM me with info about how you tried to contact us -- I don't have any outstanding Customer service emails (they come to me). Also, A Main typically calls me directly so we can find out why that might have happen.

If you have gone through troubleshooting steps (things like checking solder joints, plugs, even try different motor) you can always send the unit back to us for warranty review - steps at www.hadrma.com.
