anyone else notice that when you desolder the viper motor wires the first time and then use your own its easier to solder?

Mainly curious as it what solder they are using that is so strong :)

Oh yeah. Had to turn my Checkpoint soldering station up to max with a big blob of solder to get those suckers off. Whatever it is, it's industrial grade stuff .

Should be here in a couple days.

Just some happy feedback about this motor/esc combo....... A very easy and quick install and setup today in about 20 minutes. Wow this thing has a ton of torque! Installed the 14 tooth pinion for starters and was all grins throughout the two packs I burned through. Motor temps never above 130 and the esc never above 115..... I'm super happy with this purchase and looking forward to seeing some race time with it very soon.

New Black Edition is an improvement over the older motors in every aspect. More RPM, more Power, more Efficient, and still smooth to drive. There may be older style motors out in hobby shops, etc. But from us directly we don't have many left. Black Edition is where its at!!!

Will there be a trade in offer? Had a novice hit me coming the wrong way and broke the solder tabs off a new 8.5

Either repair or would trade up if possible.

What is the built in timing for the Black Edition Motors? :tire:

DustinH 01-19-2015 08:55 PM

The timing is adjustable, just like before

Zero timing is true zero.

EDWARD2003 01-20-2015 05:36 PM

Great! I don't want to come off as being rude, but, how do you know?

Wildcat1971 01-20-2015 07:35 PM

Because he is a team driver......

EDWARD2003 01-20-2015 08:34 PM

I figured as much from his signature.....Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question.

Did you use a motor checker?

Cheers.

Jim Hustins 01-21-2015 03:57 AM

I was informed by Viper that they are built with zero timing added.

So when are we going to be able to buy the black edition motors with option rotors pre-installed? Price point gets steep fast with option rotors that it seems like most will want for offroad...especially 17.5.

+1

Hopefully this is something being discussed by the powers at be at viper. Heck, if they even did say a special order direct to gauge interest would be cool.

Nick, you can autograph them too

Wildcat1971 01-21-2015 08:46 AM

Imo, 12.5mm rotors are needed for offroad, but the onroad guys probably want the 12.3 motor. So someone needs to buy a rotor, lol. I say it should be the onroad guys, because they are used to spending a ton of money to go fast, lol.
