In my opinion you only need the vtx10r for 4wd buggy. I run the vtx10 in 2wd sc and 2wd buggy with no issues.

Vtx10be, runs for about 3 second, then shuts off, switched motors, does the same thing. Suggestions???

The VTX10 is lighter (56g vs 75g), cheaper and handles a 6.5t motor. However, I wasn't sure if there are any additional features for the VTX10R that I am missing.

So I wanted to toss out the question and see what everyone is running and what you guys think.

Thanks,

The 10r will run cooler, and has a little more punch. I would for sure in the short course and still probably in the buggy. I ran my 22 2.0 on a vtx10 with 8.5 for a while, no issues but has a better feel and the ESC gets less hot with 10r.

Hope this helps

VTX8 Combo

Are the VTX8 combos gone? I was waiting for one at Amains without success for weeks and now they are off from the Viper website too. A new version coming?

I know where you're going with this question and I can tell you from experience the lights doing things doesn't always show a fault.
mine doesn't show anything abnormal but my VTX8 doesn't work

F light goes solid red when throttle is pushed.

Seems like a year since I have been on r/c tech.... haha

Seriously - first I want to thank our friends, fans, customers, drivers and dealers for a great 2014. We continue to grow our brand and find new individuals to get involved in the program.

2015 has a lot of great things on the menu -- the new Black Edition motors were the first step - and they even came in early!! So we starting on a good stride. Now on to the questions and answers....

Couple different directions here - as well as variables (you many want to PM or email me at [email protected] for more details). Things to look at...
- if power shuts off completely, connection somewhere including battery
- if still showing throttle response on switch, but no motor power = sensor related -- sensor wire, motor sensor, sensor connection on VTX
- If error lights - which ones - alternating F and R would be a short somewhere in the motor, battery or connections

In this type of case - first thing I would do it little go back to step one. Take it out and re-trace any connections, plugs, wires, just like it was new to see if something is not right. Best case we find the issue, worse case - we look at warranty options.

AEWER - yes unfortunately we ran out of stock on VTX8 the wrong time of the year and we are then needed to source a new supplier for some parts. Those new parts have to be tested before put into production to verify correct operation (just because it says a spec, we will try it, not just 'trust' it), so there will continue to be a small delay before back in stock.

As for new -- we are always looking for something new -- but it has to be better than what we have first!!

nikos2002 01-01-2015 08:51 PM

kwiksi and Cain -- thanks for the kind words -- we are trying our best to support everyone that supports our brand. We try to do the best we can for every customer.
