Ok I looked it up. Airtronics calls it SHR. You can set it for each channel independently. Turn SHR off for ch2 and test again. If it still is doing this, disable SHR for all channels and test.

Look on page 48 of the manual for instructions on how to do this.

I'll do it tonight and see

So no one asked what motor he is runnig here? did I miss something? with a 17.5 he could be up in the 25-28 pinion... 13.5 23-25 pinion and then true mods lower down to where he is stating... I agree his temp shouldn't be getting up to the limits either but knowing the size of motor would sure help us out...

doh...... very good point.

I whiffed on that one because that was the exact gearing I ran on my SC10 with mod.

"My Viper Wish"

I have the vtx10 and vtx10r and I really like their performance and the programmer. Now I'm in need of a 3rd esc but I need a little more flexibility than what the vtx10's offer. So my viper wish is a vtx10r that could run a mild 4-pole motor (i.e. 1410, hw3656), sensored and sensored-less, and stays the same size.

This is my wish so I don't have to buy the other brand and have 2 programmers. My fear is since the vtx10r is already $200 that adding these options would price this 2x the competition.

just get a VTX8 for your 4 pole motor. Same programmer. Same menus. Same tuning options. Same awesomeness :sneaky:

Much Much too big and won't do sensorless. Maybe I should have underlined the 'size' portion of my wish.

It was a wish i.e. it doesn't exist. Viper doesn't offer anything that runs sensored and sensorer-less.

Maybe someone in the know can answer this. How hard is it to make the Viper ESCs run sensorless?

Got my Viper setup for my 1/8 buggy, few questions quickly:

- Are the profiles that are not the user ones, can they be changed? If so, can you change them back quickly to a default setting?
- When you run Race Open mode but for 1/8 or 4x4 SCt, what do you need to set to effectively make the Acceleration Boost settings to OFF. I basically want to have that option available, but off until I need it.

All my channels where set on Normal. I believe its a receiver malfunction although everything seems to be ok for now. I'm probably going to change the receiver and keep the old as an emergency back up. If it happens again I'll check other items. Asking around people who have had similar episodes swapped receivers and the problem was cured. Thanks for your help.

Ran my viper VTX10R-BE w/ the 13.5T for the first time yesterday and even w/o any boost it had plenty of oomph to easily clear the big jump at the track.

I also did a boost setup and holy cow does that thing move. Now I just need to learn how to keep off the boards and shiny side up.

Just remember to gear down when you use boost and monitor your temps :sneaky:

Barge 08-28-2013 11:58 AM

I geared to start to plan on using boost... so I didn't have much top end to start which isn't horrible for me.

Nothing got over 110 during my repeated checking. After a race I'll have to check again because crashing in practice kinda slows you down.

FYI I'm using the SMC shorty batteries as well and I've got nothing to compare too but I can't complain. My eyes got tired before my batteries did. Looking forward to racing tonight and mostly trying to stay out of peoples way.

Edit: and I did get the pro6 cap installed. I've got nothing to compare it to but I pretty much need zero run up to clear any jump at my indoor track.

my friend told me that vt8 esc isn't good for truggy ? it is true ??

Genebaby 08-28-2013 03:32 PM

It would be more than fine.

Don't worry Bob, you guessed right. I'm running an 8.5 with my SC10 that has the heat issues. I've got no drive train resistance. I did a little test on my home track after the initial over-heat. I basically just let it run to motor over-temp with the limit set at 220. External measurements were around 165. I then jacked the cut off up to 230 and tried it again. Checking the external temp I was about 175 (go figure). Knowing I didn't want to get a whole lot over 180, I set the cut off to 240. Unfortunately, the next time it thermalled, I wasn't able to get to it and measure the motor temp right away. Either way, I shouldn't be hitting these temps. There's a fair amount of wheel spin on my home track but I've never hit cut off before with the same setup.
