Where? I couldn't find it anywhere, you might want to make it a little easier to find..

If you go to the Viper website and select any of the products there is a Downloads section at the bottom with the instructions and such.

Congrats!!! I miss running my F1!!! its awesome with a VTX1!!

Track can submit a request via our website, lower right corner, events form. If they sell our products, they can just contact us via sales, we'll include it in the next order.

So run the vtx1 w/ the 21.5? I'm having a horrible time fitting my vtx10-be in my 3racing F1 FGX. Specially with the huge compacitor.

Like BDS said if you go to the viper website and click on a specific product, you will see a page like this with a downloads section at the bottom. I inserted a big yellow arrow in this screen shot just to show where to look.

As a potential customer, can anyone shed light to the meaning of this? Thanks,

I believe Nick already stated this, the thread was started by a former employee who parted ways in not so good terms. If you need details, I'm sure you can send him a PM and he fill them in the best he can.

Copperhead-R / VX4R.45 problems

Hello all,
If this has been answered already...sorry.
I have this combo and everything is in practically "new" condition. No dings, scratches or loose connections.
Every so often when I either land from a small to medium jump or even get bumped by a fellow racer the esc remains running but loses all input functions.
No steering , no acceleration...nothing, but the fan is still running and the three lights on the switch are flashing. All I have to do is hold the switch button to shut it down and then restart it and everything is fine till the next time it happens. Over a course of about 4-5 hours yesterday it happen twice.
Very irritating. I contacted Viper some time ago and they said wiggle the wires or something to that extent. It's out of warranty also.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Question with a little setup.

I have the Copperhead-R installed in my SC10 4x4 and had it running the Castle 1410 1Y 3800kv motor.

My son has an SC10 with a Castle Sidewinder V2 running the Velineon 3500kv motor. The esc in his SC10 was failing so I was going to buy him a new one. After finding out how great the Copperhead-R esc is I opted to get him one of those. Instead of just getting the ESC I decided to go with the Copperhead-R ESC & VX4R.45 4-Pole 550 Sensorless Brushless Motor Combo (4500kV).

So I bought the combo and put the esc in his truck and the motor in my SC10 4x4.

Now the question.

Is the VX4R.45 motor typically loud (high pitched)?

I used the same gears that were on the Castle motor which ran quiet. It sounded like the gear mesh was off and would squeal as if the mesh was too tight. I loosened several times even to the point that it was barely meshed but the loudness was still present. I even put a set of brand new pinion and spur gears on to eliminate that as a possibility. I also put the Castle motor back in and it was back to being quiet. If I pull the motor back and just let it run with the pinion it is still just as loud and squeally. Just hand turning it the motor feels smooth.

So back to my question, is the VX4R.45 motor loud?

nikos2002 05-28-2013 03:34 PM

gigasipke - yes, its loud - like a 8 cylinder Corvette racing at LeMans with all those high pitch turbos. It is noise at low rpms and a bit higher pitch at higher rpms.

VTX8's - should be back in stock any day now, I am not at the office yet this week, but they were due Friday or Today. Might take a day or two to process.

Graveyard - its getting a voltage spike from somewhere and the system is going into a protection mode. We have seen that the bullet connectors can come loose - causing an arc, that tricks the esc into thinking there is spike - that is why checking those was suggested. You can also lower Punch and Timing settings slightly, as that lessens the total amp draw.

gelshocker - yes, Bob had the story right, disgruntled employee who was not happy leaving, even though it was his choice - weird. But anyway, thread has been to popular and too much information to think about closing it down or changing it. We like that our info is here -- not on three or four different threads like others.

spider - yes - both me and Smyka ran VTX1's with 21.5's in F1 at Snowbirds in the A Main! Of course he TQ'd and won, I was 4th. But I also made the F1 A Main at IIC with that combo
