I'm a huge fan of the Black Edition speed controls. They have tons of adjustments and flat out deliver. So if I had to suggest, I would say VTX10 BE. If you are going to run any mod touring, then get the 'R' so you can use the lower turn motors. The std has a 6 turn limit.

You may also want to grab the optional fan when you order since you are using this in a TC. I'm sure some of the other guys will chime in on which version they prefer as well

the vtx10 will be fine for blinky.
by non-stock races do you mean running boost or running a lower turn motor.
I ran 17.5 SCT boosted with the viper 17.5 and vtx10R. i found 30 deg. can and 20 boost (7 or 8 top speed) a very good setup. motor would be 150 ish and the speedo would barely even be warm!!

I will be running my vtx10 for the first time this weekend with a 13.5 and profile 3. Motor has 20deg stock timing. What sort of temp should i be seeing on the vtx10? Just curious because i normally run esc's with fans and they run like 105deg at the sinks.

My Viper ESCs hardly ever get above ambient, one is running a VST10.5t with just a tad of boost...before it was running a 13.5t with a decent boost in my SCT. Another is running a 8.5t in blinky in a buggy and the third is running a 17.5t blinky in my son's SCT.

Set the ESC thermal protection to like 220 or 200 even and just don't worry about it.

I can't compare it to other brands as I haven't driven them but I find it to be smooth just like the rest of the line. All of my motors are currently Viper VSTs 8.5t in my B4.1, 10.5t in my XXX-SCT, 13.5t that used to be in the SCT and a 17.5t in my son's XXX-SCT.

Sorry but, I think you may have misconstrued my statement. The issue is not with Viper Products. It is with aforementioned Futaba certain receiver. Drivers have had this issue with other speed controls as well. Viper products are TOP NOTCH! You will not be disappointed with the design, ease of use or performance!

I would say either the VTX10R-BE or VTX10-BE. You could make a case for the VTX1, but unless you plan on running 1s at any time with this ESC, the 1s function would never be used. The VTX10R-BE has a very, very low resistance, but it is at a point that is redundant also.

So what is the real difference between the VXT1 and the VXT10 BE? And this is specifically in reference to on-road 1/10th Touring...which one is recommended for this application and why? Thanks

Just like any other ESC. Wire the BEC into the battery taps and remove the red wire from the RX connector. But why do you need to? The BEC in the Viper ESCs is rater higher than most other companies at 7V/5A, it can power even hungry servos without blinking.

Why not just subscribe to it? You could find it in you subscriptions list at any time you needed it then. Just a suggestion.

Thanks I'll still try them because people here like them alot!
They have the VTX speed controls in stock along with the copperhead systems.
The copperhead is the most affordable speed control and motor I have seen.
Im probably aiming for the VTX thou because I want the best esc Viper makes.
