Everyone, I leave for the SC Nats in a few hours. Hopefully I will have a decent mobile signal there and can post some updates from the track. But I just wanted to say if any replies are delayed over the weekend, its because I am at the race.

I will try and post updates and pictures here at our forum at www.viper-rc.com

Good luck...I'm hoping to get out this weekend for my first race with the VST13.5T in my SCT. Let's hope for dry weather and understanding spouses.

Well what class do you race in and what is your track like? I can't imagine that the 6.5T is a good option either way personally...just too much motor. So does your track have a 17.5 blinky class and do you prefer to run in it? Or is it like my track where there is only one 2wd SCT class?

I was running a boosted 17.5T (other brand) but recently purchased a VST13.5T to run in this class in an effort to keep the same speed but cool the temps down. Hoping to find out tomorrow how the setup works. :tire:

Oh and I guess I'm making the assumption that this is 2wd as well...I don't pay attention to 4WD SCT but from what I have seen I think most run 550 motors don't they?

rcq 08-03-2012 01:49 PM

Oh I run with with 4x4 Slash. We do not have any limits for systems. I run with 550 4 pole system but today I just wan to test servo which was bad and after that the ESC just stopped work. Its strange because after that I try the same servo with other ESC and it just turn off, but after I unplug servo its turn in again.

Ny the way we running in 1:8 scale out dore track

nikos2002 08-04-2012 05:29 AM

rcq- with a 4x4 slash I don't think any of those would work.if you have a 2pole 550 motor it would work, but the 10R is not made for 4pole.

Quick hello from the SC Nats, getting some cool pics to put up later. 28 or 29 heats, lots of racers, electric, nitro, 1/5 scale and two tracks!!!

Guys are looking good through practice yesterday. We have Viper drivers running 2wd Stock and Mod and 4wd Mod. All the products are being used- VTX, Black Edition, Copperhead, VST, VST XL and BE test motors!!

More updates as the day goes on, try and post some pics from the hotel tonight.

nikos2002 08-04-2012 11:11 AM

Round one update - for Viper guys.

2wd Modified- Sinclair 5th, Aliberti-9
4wd mod- Smyka 2nd, Aliberti- 5, Berrio - 12
2wd Stock - Berrio- 4th, me-9th

BTW- I did the fastest sigle lap in stock, but crashed on my last lap, should have been about 5th.

Round 2 has started and the Viper/XFactory combination is one fire!!
Paul Sinclair moves to TQ spot (rocket round qualifying). Mike Aliberti was on pace to be close to Paul but a bobble left him second overall. Incredible thing - track is actually slowing down with the heat and these guys went faster!!!

When are the new Black ESC's and Black can motors going to be released? when can you buy them?

nikos2002 08-04-2012 06:07 PM

Black Edition esc should be at our warehouse next week and then distributed to distributors and dealers. Start looking end of next week beginning of week after unless something changes.

Motors are still be worked on, they are running well (qualified for a couple of A Mains at the SC Nats), but they are not perfect. Still working on it.

We will release no motor before its time.... Or something like that.

nikos2002 08-04-2012 06:08 PM

With 2 and 1/2 rounds done we have stopped for the night but we have some of the mains set up. *

Unfortunately. The big track got a little faster And both Paul and Mike gambled on tire choices. I think they got knocked down to 3rd and 4th in 2wd SC Mod. Mark stayed 6th in 4wd Mod, with his Copperhead. Mark got knocked down to 13th. Royce 29th of 120 4wd SC.*

We didn't run the 3rd round of Stock on the short track. That will be done in the morning. Royce moved up to 3rd (one of 3 guys to do 13 laps. I went 8 seconds faster but still in 9th. Also, I still have the fastest single lap in Stock qualifying (running the VST motor!!)

Been a long time fan of Viper, dropped Tekin for Viper actually. Always had good luck with Viper, until the Copperhead came out. At first they were awesome, smooth powerful and cheap. But, once i had 4-5 copperhead systems I started having issues, 2 esc's stopped working just the red light was on, then had a rotor come unglued. So i decided i was going to try some other esc companies(Speed Passion, Ko Propo, Orion) and none compared to Viper. So last weekend i ordered a new Vtx10/Vst13.5 combo. Got it wednesday got it all hooked up only to find out the motor's sensor board was out. After a few days I finally got a hold of Viper. My options were pay out of my pocket to send my Brand new viper motor wait a week or two for viper to send me another motor, or Viper offered to send me another sensor unit, so i would get to wait a week for it to get here and then I would have to take apart my brand new motor.

Really a let down, buying a brand new viper system i can't use for 2-3weeks and my only options are pay to have it worked on(shipping) or spend my own time working on it.

..... But i will admit, I have 10+ VTX speedos and have never had a single issue with any.

Ya that always sucks and sorry to hear that.

It's not to big of a deal because I have an arsenal of trinity motors and will have a few of the redline gen2's Monday/Tuesday.

But its the thought of having to put more time/money into a brand new system that should have been ready to go. And while glad viper is sending me the parts to fix it, I am also a little let down that's it. I run a business(metal roofing/siding) and when I screw up a customers order I generally try to make it right and then some, but I guess I'm not as mainstream as most. So just getting the part is pretty fortunate

KTMDirtFace 08-05-2012 03:23 PM

I just got a new Viper VTX10R and 17.5 motor combo.

I installed it in my blitz ese.
Radio Futaba 4pl
Servo Savox 1258 TG
77/28 gearing.

My problem is the ESC constantly resets itself. I have only driven it out in the street but I make a couple turns and i loose power and hear the ESC beeping like it just reset. It goes through the beeping tones and lights like the power was turned just turned on.

I'm not sure whats up all my connections are brand new and it seems fine. Any ideas?

Edit: Could it be LVC? how does the vtx10r behave at LVC? I just threw whatever battery I had which was at storage voltage in it.
