would this new motor work with anything viper has out currently thats sensored?

Matt

a VTX10R should handle that with no issues.

That motor is 4 pole like tekin won't work maybe with copperhead esc in sensorless mode would be fine

Leave it to Trinity to say they have a 12 pole motor. I would check with the to see what ther speed control requirements are.

Frankie- with a 17.5 I normally start with motor and esc temp cut off at 220. Depending on track or conditions I have disabled motor temp, but still kept an eye on it with a temp gauge

Wide open- the fan plugs into a port by the sensor connection and uses thermal tape to go around the esc case to help disapate heat better. Some drivers use them and some don't. Depends on driving style. When we first tested them, last year at the SC Nationals. Some guys ran them and some didn't and it was upper 90's with high humidity on a large loamy track.

Description is wrong. Description is correct in the Features section, which states 12 slotted stator.

Prolite -Viper VST13.5.. Took 5 1st place finishes
Mod 4wd Buggy- Viper VST6.5.. took 5 1st place finishes :)

Very smooth system.
Even talked a few local hobbies shops to start carrying Viper.

So.. Thanks Viper.

Here is the picture of the fan kit from Viper. The white color is the film covering the double sided thermal tape. This fan is useful for running 550 and our L and XL motors in 4x4 SC chassis. Hope that helps

I'm having a problem with the car not calibrating the throttle and the brake correctly from the get go. I'm following the instructions but its just not working. I have no throttle... Any ideas? FWIW, I had this problem last night but got it to work, now its not working again. My steering works great.

I'm up shits creek without a paddle, it appears all my stuff works and is connected correctly, etc. I think its just a calibration issue. Is there a way to reset the ESC to a blank default out of the box setting?

FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS IF MORE INFO IS WANTED AND NEEDED!!!

Thanks for help!

EDIT: I have gotten this to work. Although there are several settings I'm very upset about! Like no reverse AT ALL when in any sort of race mode? Cant even turn it on? and practice mode I cant set up any timing or boost when I can use reverse?! :( I use reverse constantly.. I'm so up in the air and upset about it I might sell the damn ESC because of it... such a shame.

I'm thinking about putting in a vtx10 to run a 8.5T in a dex210. I notice that it says 6.5T limit in the specs though. Am I better off getting a VTX10R or is the VTX10 going to be fine? I noticed that many people seem to recommend going to the higher end model of other escs when they run a motor nearish the specced limit...

frankiebonez 03-02-2012 07:01 PM

ok so before I sell this darn ESC... is there anyway I can setup some motor timing settings in practice mode where I have reverse? I have the car all setup nice in the race settings, set the motor timing, boost, etc in the race modes but no reverse.... and practice with reverse I cant set any timing settings and get the speed and punch I want?! Its frustrating the hell out of me. I wish I would have known this before, is there any way around this???

HELP!

They answered this before. Reverse with timing is very hard on a motor, thus the no timing allowed in practice mode.

oh that sucks... you can use reverse on other ESCs and they have it set so you have delay and keeps it soft...... Car comes to a complete stop and then reverse is used. Keep timing down or off for reverse situations only! It should be programable.

So I get to either drive with zero balls and reverse, or get stuck during my practice runs? Wish I would have known this. I use reverse ALOT when i'm at the track practicing.

Anyone want to buy a 17.5 VTX10 setup lol..... After I try it tomorrow guess I will know if reverse matters that much or not.

When I jump off the track while practicing, or I'm stuck on a car, or I hit a wall, or I dunno countless other times reverse comes in handy? I use it constantly.

I'm going to see how it is dealing without reverse tomorrow. If I find it a problem I will be seling this setup. Really upset, because it seems to be very nice.

I really feel thats poor for you to not be able to use reverse on a delayed setup while practicing. Tekin lets you do that....

nikos2002 03-02-2012 08:57 PM

frankie - check your PM.

If you are running an 8.5, even in a higher heat situation, the VTX10 will be OK. if you plan on running a 6.5 or lower in the future and only want to get one speed control - then yes, plan ahead and get the VTX10R. I have used a 7.5 in my 2wd with no issues of heat or concerns - if that helps. And remember, the fastest motor does not always win - the driver who can control it does..... I have seen a good driver with a boosted 13.5 beat drivers of equal skill with an 8.5 because the 13.5 better suit the track and was actually easier to drive fast.
