Installed the vtx along with a vst 10.5 running blinky mode geared at 8.7, we had the Sunday series Sunday just gone. My ft had good amounts of torque with good top end and stayed consistent through out the 6 minute heats and finals.
In the end I finished 2nd in the first final & after being taken out early in the second final I over drove (silly mistakes)to get back to the point end, in the end I finished 3rd on the day.

Do I remember right seeing some time back a comment that UNDER-gearing the motors too much can cause heat issues? I just dropped a 10R & VTS 7.5 in my TT with a 14t pinion. Ran it out in the street to test, at 1 min the motor was about 120 (I hadn't temp gunned it), and before I hit the 2 min mark it had thermal'd, and temp gun was reading 170-174. Ooops!!!!
ESC was ~120...can't remember the exact number.

Thanks for the reply Marcus. Unfortunately, I appear to have cooked the motor as it's got a nasty smell (more than the standard warm epoxy smell that I'm familiar with from my other VSTs) and spinning the shaft by hand feels mushy, not snappy like it should. I had swapped out to the 13t I had and was going to check at 30-45 second intervals, but it didn't sound right just blipping the throttle lightly on the bench. Thought I had the gear mesh too tight, backed it off some, blipped it again, and the ESC shut off and won't turn on again. Now it won't turn back on what-ever I do. Swapped out the 7.5 for a 17.5 just to test the ESC, and it STILL won't power on. Swapped out the sensor wire with a NIB one and still no joy
It's got me doubting everything, including my own sanity, so I'm going back to square one and checking EVERYTHING, including a freshly charged battery. I'll report back once I've had some more time on the bench. Have to break for dinner shortly.

when did you get your esc? was it one of the first batch models?
you might have demagnetized the rotor by getting it to hot, Should be an easy fix replace the rotor or send it in to weylin and SC RAGE and have them check it out.
If your esc is lights out and wont power on im sure the higher up fellas will ask you to send in the stuff so they can check it.

Special Thanks to SpeedZone USA and Viper RC for a 3rd place podium finish in 8th E Buggy at the RC Pro Series Round 3 of the Missouri State series with my RC8Be, 2 2S Speedzone 5700 50C packs, and Viper 1800KV Buggy motor.
Had plenty of power and run time, and one of the only buggies to not Overheat or LVC!

Here are the results of my Nitro Buggy A main. There was only 3 e-buggy's today so we had to run with the nitro's. You can see what position i was in when we pulled off at the 14 minute mark. The number in front of the lap times tells you what position your in. I got 1st place today. The viper 2050kv motor with the new test
14.5mm rotor ran GREAT.
