I have 2 Savox servos fail on me, both are new. The 1st one is 1257 lasted only 1 race, the other one 1258 lasted only 3 days practicing. This is in a 1/8th nitro buggy for throttle application, both failed on landing (not a hard landing ). The 1st one (1257), the servo just jam and not moving, luckily its in 1/4 throttle, the 2nd one (1258) the servo just died like no power connected. I m a Savox fan, all my cars are fitted with Savox EP and GP (onroad), but this is the 1st time I m using it on a nitro buggy (just got started offroading). I m also using 1258 for steering and has been flawless without any problem at all. Now, I wonder what make the servo fail both time at throttle/brake application. I thought the steering has more load than throttle/brake. I know I check and rechecked for binding and it was smooth, even the brakes were set just enough. Is this model 1257 and 1258 are not meant for throttle job (in a nitro 1/8th buggy)? BTW I m using it with NiMH rx pack 5 cells 2500mAh AA batt (Sanyo), my radio is Sanwa M11X with 451 rx, both throttle and steering were set to SHR mode. Can anybody give me any tips on what to do to make the throttle servo last? I m starting to get skeptical about getting another Savox for my throttle now.

i think you should set your radio to NOR mode..SHR are for sanwa servos....

Any one tried these ones?
SV-1271SG SV-1272SG A little more expensive but a bit stronger and faster. Going to get the 1267MG soon for my MBX5T-E, should do more than I want it to and can't really beat the price. |

I'm sure even the best servos will fail even when new. It's all luck. My wife runs the low end savox in her truggy(0251 & 0352) and no problems at all. She likes them because they are slow and easy to control. She's hit walls and sent the truggy rolling down the straight. They haven't failed yet. I run a return spring on throttle just in case but for $30 servos in a eight truggy I'm shocked. I just sold my back ups 1267 and 1268 to buy those for back ups. Great servos for the money. |
Just got on the savox bandwagon. I am having an issue though with my 1268sg. I was running a hitec 7955tg and never had an issue. I switched out to the 1268 and had major brown out issues. This is in a mugen e buggy 4s, 4pk radio, rx8, futaba fasst r603fs receiver. When I turn the servo back and forth slowly it's fine. But as soon as I turn fast it causes major glitching/brown outs in the system. All connections are perfect (like I said the 7955tg is perfect). Just for fun I put the savox in my losi scte 4x4 the only difference is I run a r604fs receiver in that truck. No glitching or brown outs at all. Settings are correct in the radio (c1, c2- c1 on the 603 and c2 on the 604).
Anyone have the same issues or come across this? I mean I guess I can switch receivers but the servo shouldn't cause brown outs. |

I had that problem only in my 1/10 2wd buggy. A receiver capacitor solved the problem. My 1/10 4wd, 1/10 SCT and AX-10 Rock Crawler are all fine (I have a CC BEC in the crawler).
The servo will draw as much voltage as it is given be it 5V or 7.4V depending on the BEC (internal ESC or External). It's the current draw that causes the brown-outs not the voltage. Most internal BECs can only supply 3Amps which isn't enough with some Savox servos. |

For what it's worth, though, I'm using a 1257tg powered from an RS Pro's BEC w/ 603ff receiver on 2s in my 2wd buggy and have no issues with glitches / brownouts, and am not running a capacitor on the receiver. |
