The manual has some recommendations ...

FDR 3.5 - 5.5

i guess start with 4.5 and work from there ...

Hey Cobra,

man we are fast....lol....for sure when we drive the HW..!!
Nice to hear that c++ is on the way, once learned to use it when studying.
Think it`s difficult.

Hope you will give us a nice write up when its there.

Kind regards,

Roy

PS. more and more people are starting to use the HW overhere in the Netherlands.

Lohan 12-24-2010 11:24 AM

Is it gonna be smoother when coming 'off power' than the current 518 as sinzeng seems to intimate - hope so - coz I'd like to keep my hobbywing:D

C++ ?? Does nobody ever program in Assembly anymore? Gesh, I must be getting old. Cant wait to see some more development, esp 1S/WGT profiles (Hint HInt)

sizheng 12-25-2010 07:57 AM

Roy,yes, the new software is under testing here. By now,it works better than 0518 with lower motor temp. And smooth off throttle feeling.
I think it will be available before TITC next Feb.

Sizheng

TeamWTF 12-25-2010 10:09 PM

Hey Guys,

I have removed my 1s from its 12th home and put it into a tourer... 2s...

I will run it with a 5.5t will the supplied double sided tape (for the heatsink) provide good enough heat conduction? I will also use a fan...

Iam thinking of using some sort of heat conductive paste/glue... I dont want to kill this little baby!

Anyone had any experience with using the double sided tape?

Thanks in advance
Phill

Did you Know That the bottom of it's wafer had no Heat sink attached,
how would you think to reduce the heat there ?

there are some double sided tape specifically for heatsink application.

ko propo heat transfer double sided tape 45511

I believe lrp also have the same type of tape, as when I had the spx it included the heatsink and tape.

I would assume there is no thermal paste with this type of application.

edit.....lrp supply scotch 468mp thermal tape to some of their speed controls if a heatsink is to be installed by the user.

you can buy this same tape through blackwoods.

Just reading some old posts, and I am wondering what size of track are you running on? How long is your straight, and is the infield technical or smooth flowing?

Our track is 30m * 12m, with a pretty technical infield. I run a considerably different rollout then you do. 78-82mm, with 20 endbell timing (novak 17.5), and 29 dynamic (everything on Max) with the 1S HW. I still feel like i am not in the cars sweet spot yet, the other cars are faster on the in field and the straight! :weird:

You seem to be the only person to continually dredge up the same question.
Either buy another brand that does log the info you desire , or use a separate logging device.
Whining about your wishes on here is clearly getting you nowhere, perhaps spam emailing HW would achieve more ??? ( Though probably not )
It seems most other users are after software that makes their car go faster, rather than bench racing with telemetry.......

Merry Christmas to you & remember to stress less

TeamWTF 12-26-2010 05:04 PM

I'll try Jaycar... They should have something better then the standard stuff!

I ran the car up and down the street with the 5.5t and the speedy became quite hot with no heatsink or fan

COBRARACING 12-26-2010 05:40 PM

The software will be ready by the titc for testing, we will be in thailand running some testing before the event .The software will not be released to the public before the titc event .

If you are having some ESC heat issues, try sanding the top of the ESC down with some 400 Wet/Dry (dry), and working your way upto 1200 or so. The Top of the ESC should have a mirror like finish. DO the same to the heat sink, then use thermal epoxy to attach the two together. Use the smallest amount of epoxy possible.

Oh, and i am pretty sure this will void any warranty, but it will reduce your temps. (its an old overclockers trick.)

Shawn.

TeamWTF 12-26-2010 07:53 PM

I was not using an ESC heatsink or fan.... Im sure even with the supplied tape and heatsink it would have been fine...

I lent my 120a to a friend and have not seen him since... he lives around 2 hrs away! I just want something temporary so i can use it again in 12th with no heatsink in the future.

Our track is approx.: 35m * 14m
My rollout is 57-60, and some even drive a lower rollout
But don't forget I drive 13.5T and not 17.5.

Here you have Jilles driving the track, some time ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOGwl4ImEdk

If you want to compare, my fastest laptimes are 10.2 - 10.3

Ah, 13.5 makes alot of difference.

COBRARACING 12-27-2010 03:15 AM

The software will not be 100% new it will be improvements like a linear effect from coming off turbo not so agrressive etc .If we went 100% then we would have alot of testing and alot of teething issues so every 8 weeks we will have some improvements for your guys to download as it is easier to make improvements to what weve got and easier testing one feature at a time then 200 features .

soon we will have the first update available.:)

cheapskate.brok 12-27-2010 03:35 AM

why don't make a 120A version of the Xtreme stock? Lov the bigger heatsink area:)
Oh wait, i let cats out of the bag?:lol::lol::lol:

I wish we could but the 120 amp needs twice as many mosfets and they will not fit into such a small package as the xtreme stock.

Maybe in the future when mosfets become smaller and more powerful then yes we could .

geubes 12-28-2010 04:07 AM

Help!

my extreme stock is going into fail-safe mode when its plugged into the receiver, or when the car comes to a sharp halt on the track.

If I turn the car on with the receiver lead unplugged, the lights on the ESC come on and the esc fan powers up. If I then plug the lead into the receiver, the power to the fan shuts off and a orange/red solid light comes on and there is no response. However, if I "carefully" slide the receiver plug in - the ESC works correctly and the fan does not stop and I ahve power. However if the car then takes a knock or a sharp movement, the ESC looses all power again and goes into the mode above and will not work until I unplug it.

What could this be?

A broken receiver....

Check if you still have a working steering servo, when this happens, if not it is certainly the receiver....

Yes i agree with you m7H its either a loose esc wire to the receiver or a damaged receiver .The solid lights on is a loss of signal
