Hi, my laptop came back from the repair shop with windows 10 installed on it. Will the Hobbywing link still work on it for my program boxes and ESCs?
Thanks for your help

Hi Angelo,

I agree with Bar's comment about brakes in blinky stock racing. The brakes are decent on the XR10pro (using r1 wurks v15 13.5t motor or Fantom FR-1 Team works 13.5t both have high strength rotors). But the LRP flow team works esc has better high speed brakes. (ie. pulling up off straight into tight turn - Brendale track the LRP esc I can precisely pull the car up off the back straight consistently. The XR10pro esc with all the same gear, pulls up, but not as consistent and not quite as strong).

I am same as Bar and not putting down the HW esc. I would just like stronger high speed braking.

This also happens from from the start of the run and is the same throughout. I don't think its a heat related related issue. (plus I check temps and both esc and motor are well within operating temps).

My brake settings are:

drag brake - zero
brake force - 100
initial brake - equals drag brake
brake curve - linear
brake frequency - 1khz
brake control - linear

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Leonard.

I highly disagree......the brakes on my XR10 Pro 160 are the best I have ever seen in Blinky spec. 21.5. I tried my old Novak purple banded motor and the Hobbywing g2 and both would stop the car quite fast at the end of the straight.

COBRARACING 03-19-2017 07:06 PM

The brake effect on all our speed controllers from the xr10 range will be subject to many factors including motor used see some motors have less mangetic strenght especially stock motors of say Trinity or R1 which means yes more RPM but yes to also less brakes no matter what the setting is .

I don't race in blinky, when you go that slow you don't need brakes

Brakes will vary depending on what brand of motor you are running

I just subscribed. I see Angelo is rocking the help in here, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out in here to help if I can. Please let me know if you guys need anything. I usually check the thread once a week but if you need something faster you can email me.

Just curious, could you explain how the motor affects the brakes? TKS

Richard

andrewdoherty 05-22-2017 08:09 AM

Motor magnet strength varies with different brands and winds of motors, as I suspect you know. Just as when the motor turns forward the stronger magnet can result in more force, when the stator is energized oppositely to induce a braking effect, it can create more braking force. Less typically a worn motor with dirty/poor/damaged bearings can also induce a different drag braking feel. As well a motor that has severely over heated will have weaker brakes as the magnet temperature increase has a negative effect on the gauss or strength of the magnet.

Braking is caused by turning on all the low-side FETs in an h-bridge. This creates a short-circuit of the motor windings. The motor acts as a generator, being turned by the momentum of the rc car (including forward momentum and rotational inertia). Acting as a generator naturally causes a voltage, which into a short circuit causes a current in the opposite direction than the current that you'd expect from having battery voltage applied to it. Therefore you get a torque in the reverse direction (i.e. braking). As soon as the rc car comes to a stop the generator voltage falls to zero, and so no more reverse torque is applied at that stage, so the rc car doesn't continue to negatively acceleration (i.e. it doesn't go into reverse).

Many have asked about the colours of the led's flashing on the Hobbywing Xr10 pro,Xr10 Justock Xr10 stock spec and what do they mean 1 most important is the colour Yellow flashing which is actually the red led and green led flashing simultaneously making a Yellow ,the cause of this flashing sequence is 1 of 3 faults Hall sensor damage on the motor sensor board,Sensor cable fault or Rotor not shimed correctly thus a very large gap or a very close gap between rotor and sensor board hall sensors.

maxepower 07-19-2017 08:31 AM

How much gap?

So, what is the ideal gap between the rotor and the sensor board hall sensors? Inquiring minds want to know!

andrewdoherty 07-24-2017 08:53 AM

I try to keep the gap around .7 mm. The HW motor sensors are very consistant, but some other motors require hand shimming to get it right and even then some of the sensors on the same board may be up to a 1 mm different due to poor soldering/quality.

Hi guys
I'm using xerun 2.1 with the 930 mod firmware. I know there is a 930 stock firmware, but I ask... if I would use the same settings (only turbo, no boost), should be any difference about performances, top speed, erogation ?
I think the differences are only few settings more, but if I don't use them I shouldn't notice any change, right?

New Motors ?

Madulla 09-20-2017 06:24 PM

Every other RC company has released new motors in the last few months/coming weeks. With the V10 G2s getting a little bit old. Just wondering if anything new is in the works. A lot of companies are coming out with lighter cans with better cooling. ROAR rules being finalized for stock resistance and Indoor On Road season starting (IIC) seems like a good time for an upgrade.

Question: I am having a interesting problem with the WiFi module. After making changes to a esc and telling it to save, the program stops and gives me a "report" or "OK" screen. It doesn't really stop but it disconnects from the esc. Does anyone know what is going on? It appears that my changes are loaded to the esc but I have to go through a reconnect and load of settings to see which takes some time.

RoyB 09-23-2017 08:11 PM

Updated my XR10 stock spec esc to the new software the other day. On my program box it comes up XR-4.1.02-BRCA. Took it out today and the motor didn't seem to have nearly as much torque. It is a team scream 21.5 running in blinky mode USGT. Could the software have caused this?

Think I just figured out problem. I never calibrated it to the transmitter. Seems to be more responsive now.

xr10 pro stock with the last firmware XR-4.1.02-BRCA , profile zero timing with only change on pwm throttle to 1k , i have this themperature after 5 min, esc 81c , motor 76c (13.5 killshot torque with 12,5 rotor) , 81c is high for esc?

I have a Hobbywing 2 in 1 program box that says update software when I hook it to the ESC---but I can't find any way to do that on the website???

What's the latest version firmware for the xerun v2.1? My friend is asking and he doesn't have a program box and we've been searching for a while to no avail. Would the v3.1_121130_Beta work on it? He's been curious since my temps have gone down with it but I'm using a v3.1 esc.

Any tips on brakes settings on low grip asphalt?

Hang_TiMe 07-12-2018 05:18 AM

Is anyone else having problems with the data logging from the wifi module? It works sometimes then like right now, it says 0 on everything and 12.6v when I'm on a 2s battery.
Xerun v3.1 on firmware V3.2_140627_BETA.

in F1 I turn down the break EpA to around 65% start from there see how it does you can go up or down just to prevent and rear wheel lock up keeping this in mind it’s a Formula One car to wheel drive
