Will the Hobbywing 120A 1S ESC work with a brushed motor?
The manual for the 1S doesn't say anything about brushed, but the manual for the SD says it will work. I want to recommend the ESC to a 12th racer who wants to start by using brushed motors. ----- 12th blinky 17.5 1S? I've been doing a little 17.5 boosted 12th, that's ok, once it winds out. The first time I put the car on the track, I hadn't dialed on any timing. I decided that was a bad idea after 2 minutes when I got sick of being punted out of the way by the plastic Tamiyas with the kit motors. I found it seriously slow. If your friend wants to run brushed motors to start, have him buy a GTX, or GTS off of ebay for $20. They are good reliable brushed motor speedo's. (And really light weight too). the 120A is also a really heavy ESC, might be better off with a Xtremestock and a booster, for less weight. My car wights 820grams ready to run (about 90 over the minimum). To be fast with 1S, you need to be really aggressive with your settings. I did run blinky 17.5 against boosted 17.5 before I got my 1S HW ESC, and the difference was about 1 second a lap! (on 11-12 second per lap) Good luck with your 1/12 racing, keep everyone posted on how you are making out. Not enough of us on this forum run 1S 1/12! Cheers, Shawn. |

Running on a 20x14m circuit with 8ft wide lanes.. Xtreme stock speedo, team powers 13.5 motor
what firmware, gearing and settings should i be looking to run as right now I'm seriously struggling with the motor getting hot and dropping off around the 3 minute mark. |

Thank you :) Also if i continue to struggle against the Tekins for out of the corner punch. What can be changed to make it better? Cheers :)

reduce timing acc to 350 250ish increase turbo timing there some ideas |
Hi..
I have a problem here.. Yeasterday i ran my xerun 120A ( upgraded to 4 caps) with HW 10.5 motor. Settings is just around the default. a) After 4 pack of batteries (ranging from 40C to 50c type), all is o.k including temp. b) For the 5th pack, i used a 65c lipo, then the problem start. the battery only last few rounds at the track but the capacity is 6000mah. i thought maybe forgot to charge but the next battery behave the same. dried out too fast. less than 5 mins. c) bring back to the bench and try to full throttle a few times (boost/turbo kick in) but after several full throttle.. power seems very low for few sec (like 1/5 of throttle) and suddenly boost/turbo kick in. d) brought home and reflash and change sensor cable.. problems still happen. e) left the car for few hours then try again, problem seems gone. Question.. what may cause the problem? i would like to prevent that before going to the track again... Thank you. |

Can't remember having an overheating problem with my 50c battery but with the 65c fat cobra the temps are high and dying around 3 mins in... Also Had sensor trouble being intermittent between sensored and sensorless but a New lead appears to have sosted this. |

increase ddrs turbo slope
reduce timing acc to 350 250ish increase turbo timing there some ideas try a lower gear ratio (smaller pinion) increase ddrs (but this might make the back end loose!) Also it might be your start boost rpm is too low, making the motor bog down, try raising to let the motor spin up on the torque/gear ratio the the boost comes in and keeps it all going. (try driving a real car and pulling away in high gear it is slow til the motor gets in the torque/rev band for the selected gear) |
Hi All,
I have just started to run a X12 13.5 with the extreme stock speedy, in my last race I achieved a track record and the car was nice and fast but came off at 114 degs C. Air temps were around 11-12 degs C the track is a mix of fast straights and technical infield with a lap time of around 14secs, these are the settings I was using 211 firmware MI4 CX FDR 6.95 85spur 22 pinion 4: DRRS 6 9: Boost timing 40 10: turbo slope 12 12: Turbo Timing 18 13: Start RPM 6000 14: Turbo Delay 0.3 sec 15: Timing ACC 400 any suggestions to get the temps down? Have been using the hobbywing 13.5 with these settings, it was not as quick but coming off the track after a 6min race at around 75-77 Degs |

Turn down some timing |
