It is time to necro this thread.

What are the better race ESCs and what are the better Value ESCs?

Race:
Orion
Tekin

Club race? (what is good value that you can race with?)

Value?
Speedpassion?
New Novak?
EZ run?

I just got back into the hobby. List the model number if you know it.

Default VS'S

depends on what your doing, if your indoors, boost isn't much help but to overheat the rotor. The new GTB2 Xdrive will change your mind about feel and pull. Whoever thinks Tekin is cheap hasn't had to pay for one or gets his stuff sponsored. Tekin is also the most sensitive to high draw servo's and thats torched 3 for me in a month. Viper is suppossed to have a high drive freq too which helps to keep it cool and fast.

I see EZRun mentioned, but for race controllers you would want to compare the Xerun rather than EZrun.
Hobbywing is the OEM manufacturer of many other companies racing ESCs. The Xtreme Stock ESC is comparable to the Tekin RS, the 120A Xerun is comparable to the RSPro but does have a larger size. Both cost less than any others mentioned yet reliably perform as well as any of them. They have boosted and non-boosted software and they are easily updateable for future upgrades. Customer service may be among the worst in the bunch, but luckily the reliability is among the best.
