Guys,
Just wanna ask if you noticed the temp. readings of your Zero V Extremes while running modified motors.
Two days ago I ran using a 10x1 Mod, 4.5 Drive Freq. (fast track lay-out) w/ a Final Drive of 8.5. When I checked the temp. immediately after 5 mins. it was about 90C.
Am I cooking my ESC?

I have one, and somehow in the middle of the race I got hit by another car and it went into SET mode. How is this possible? You have to hold down both arrows for 5 seconds and the impact wasn't nearly that long. The turn marshal had no clue what was wrong so I had to leave the drivers stand and reset the switch so I could continue the race. Wierd...

Beta, that sounds a bit hot, are you running the heatsink on the esc? Did you use the epoxy or the dbl.-sided tape to secure it? I haven't run mod yet but I have taken temps off the ESC after 5min. stock races with a putnam monster and here's what I got using no heatsink and the stock plate.

Hi guys,
I would think the reason not many top sponsored drivers use keyence is that keyence is a big electronics company, rc is only a small branch of their business, so they don't care enough to bother sponsoring anyone.
on another note, i may be getting a keyence sometime in the forseeable future, can anyone reccomend some settings for stock TC, on a fairly large open track?
thanks

Do these newer ESCs such as the Zero V-Extreme really make a noticeable difference, apart from the smaller size? Reason I ask is that I'm still running a Cyclone, as I've never had any problems with it I haven't had reason to upgrade, but since it must be a 5-6+ year old design, I'm considering buying something better.

Speedo, the Keyence requires no external diode or capacitor. You might be able to install a cap but the menual says an external diode will damage the unit. The esc is extremely user adjustable(more adjustments than a pitwizard) plus it has 3 programmed profiles. The unit also comes with an optional anodized heatsink for hot weather racing. I bought one in Dec. 2003 for the first time and after racing Novaks all this time I like it. I dropped the Drive Freq. to .6KHz from 1.5KHz last race and the car had serious punch out the corners. Also after a pro-stock race on a tight technical carpet track the temp of the FET's never got above 104F.

I like the idea of all the adjustments it's capable of, but what it all comes down to for me is if there is a performance difference between the Keyence and what I'm using at the moment.

speedo... the cyclone series are still considered one of the best speedies around (in terms of performance), in fact many novak addicts prefer them to their gt7's. so in short, no, there is no performance difference that you will notice between a cyclone and any other top level speedy
