Run the defalt profile first then go from there. You don't want to start changing things before you even run the default setting.
It's a pretty good starting point. It's smooth with decent rip out of the corners. If tractions starts to come up and grip isn't a problem then you can try lowering the drive freq a little but if you're not smooth on the throtle you risk burning up your comm the lower you go on the drive freq.

Hey STLNST what about the Rapida Pros' default 1/12th profile? I'm using it now and like it but wanted to know if I can 'play' with the settings a bit to find an optimal one. Have you tried anything?

All my experience is with sedans so I wouldn't know what to put the speedo at for the ultimate 12th scale set up. What are you looking to do? I'm sure I can be of some help. You want more punch, smoother feel???????

JayBee 01-02-2006 07:52 PM

I'm gonna be running 19t now (I've always ran stock). Do you have something in the SMOOTH dept. or the PUNCH dept. so I can decide which profile fits my track best?

DirtyDog3375 01-03-2006 05:23 AM

Is it true when you go higher in drive frequency, the esc gets hotter and the motor cooler (with less comm and brush burn)? If so, do you need to run a heatsink on the Rapida Pro? I have seen a pic of a Rapida Pro with a LRP Q2 heatsink, I was wondering if anyone knew where you could get a proper Keyence one from or do they all seem to fit (KO VFS-1 and LRP Q2).

Sorry, forgot to add......

What are the brakes like on the Rapida Pro? (I know they can be adjusted like the drive frequency, but are they strong to start off with?)

tHE kEYENCE COMES WITH A HEAT SINK SO IF YOU SEE SOMEONE with a LRP one then they probably got it used and didn't get the heat sink with it. The brakes are just like every other speedo. They work fine and can be changed to feel softer or come on hard. It's something you will have to play with. The higher drive freq takes away punch and gives that really smooth feel which in sedan isn't wanted and some may say that it will have no pep coming out of the corners. This may be the way to go if you're running oval (I think) but in sedan I haven't gone any higher than 5.0 (with a mod) 19 and stock I go much lower.

What settings are you running now? Do you like the way it feels? Are you looking for more rip or is it too punchy? I have been using Adrians settings for 19turn. I'll get those posted for you once I find them again.

AdrianM 01-03-2006 07:04 AM

You have to use a really high drive freq, over 10.0kHz before you get into FET heating due to switching. Drive freqs over 5.0KHz are pretty useless as they do reduce punch by never allowing the armature to become fully saturated (fully magnetized) at partial throttle.

Most Stock/19T racers run drive freqs in the 1.5kHz to 2.5kHz range.

Mod guys generally run a bit higher in the 2.5kHz to 4.5kHz range.

need replacement part or graveyard ESC with Keyence display

I had a recent misfortune with my Rapida Pro and would like to know if anybody have a non-working Zero V Extreme, or Rapida Pro that they are willing to get rid of cheap? I accidently messed up the display board on my Rapida Pro and would like to get a used Keyence display as replacement.

Or would anybody know where I can purchase replacement parts for my ESC? I don't want to have my ESC sent back and forth as it is working fine in my car now just without 70% of the display not lighting up but I would like to have it fixed. I know how to have it fixed, I just need that parts as it is a very special custom component.

Thanks guys!!!

just got a rapidia pro yesterday and quickly installed it to see if it was working,

I did not have time to play around with the settings but noticed that the 27t stock motor was slower in acceleration/top end and the drag brake was on,

was this because of the standard out of the box settings?

does anyone have a good setup for the ESC or is the one in the back of the manual good,

thanks

I ran with the stock setup from the back of the book and it felt fantastic...
