Sorry to hear that. I had my original unit fail which I belive was due to a bad motor. The current one I have has worked flawlessly so far even when I hooked it up backwards! Give em a chance to fix it. Once you get accustomed to these speedies, you will be dissapointed with all else.

taking into account the things I had wrong with each of the Keyence I purchased and the previous post, note should be taken of their batch numbers and a recall considered. It can't be a coincidence surely.

kartermdb - The reason for the delay in getting you replacement units is that the Rapida is new and we do not have a pool of refurbished units to send as replacements. Out of several hundred Rapida's sold since their release we have 5 failed units (including yours) that will be sent back to Japan for repair today.

Anyone with a Zero V series speed control can have replacements sent immediately as we have refurb Zero's in stock.

Mabuchi - 5 out of over 750 speed controls is a darn impressive failure rate. No recall is necessary.

I wonder what the failure rate was on the novak GT-7?

lately ive heard that keyence is great in electronics, but when it comes to cases, the cases on the esc stinks. Why is that?

What is wrong with the case?? am i missing something.

Stuff happens I know, but exactly how long will I have to wait before I can get it back, I do agree it is an excellent speedo just it seems strange when it breaks when im driving in a straight line

Nothing ever happened to my case on any of my "3" Keyence speedos.

I've been running two keyence's for two years now and never had a problem.

kartermdb - The speed controls in need of repair will arrive in Japan on Monday. They will be repaired next week and shipped the following Monday. We will have them back in 3 weeks from today.

In short, two zero-v's with cracked cases where the upper and lower case sections separated as the screws were stripped. This was due to many big wrecks and hits from the soldering iron on the case. However, both esc's continued to function and a simple piece of tape held them shut. At the end of last summer I ordered two cases from Schumacher of Florida.

I found the changover to be difficult. Reattaching the heat sink to the plastic case with double-sided tape seemed strange. I was expecting metal to metal contact somewhere...silly me. Next, re-aligning the cover of the LED display is a hit or bust process. A dab of adhesive to hold it in place helps a lot. Finally, the multifunciton switches did not work consistently afterwards.

I think the problem with the switches is the cases. Both were slightly twisted on receipt, and I didn't think much about it. But after installation, even with the base firmly screwed in, the twist is applying force to the multifunction switch on the side of the case.

Perhaps there is an internal problem, so I intend to get professional help.

I don't mind such innovative design elements, I just need to learn to work with them, and I won't go back.

Has anyone out there used a Rapida (or Ex V for that matter) with a reciever pack?? Adrian??

I'v guessing that the "normal" method of just switching the RX Pack might not work, just a guess though.

Any one got any experience.

How do you know if the FET's have gone?
I have been running my Keyence on P5 and just checked the ENSA setting, it is 100, I have been running 27T stock motors with & without Schottky diodes for a while, depending on which motor I put it.

Recently the car has seemed slower, though I have been using Fantom Quad magnet , without SChottky's, rather than twin magnet versions, put the twin back in, on a known ratio and the car still seems slow, Just got some new batteries in case the they have had it.

But now you have me thinking, have i done anything to the FETS!

You need special equipment to test that. Try another speedo and see if it is still slow.
