The orion servos look really cool but they have alum gears not good for 1/8 scale abuse. I have run JR9100S/T with little problems. When I did have a problem I sent it back to Horizon Hobby and they warrantied it even when the top bearing went out and broke a gear on the 9100T. JR said this was not a warranty issue but they sent me a new servo anyway - great customer service. I have recently purchased a Hitec 7955 and it seems like the quality is superior to the JR but I don't have enough track time on it. The only thing with Hitec is the servo horn screw is highly specialized and unique to Hitec 2.3m. I don't like that. The cheaper JR servos like 650 or lower are junk I have blown them up in 1/2 hour. With JR 8800 or higher. I want to try the Futaba servos, Futaba has always bee a high end/ high price item, but well worth it. The way i see you get what you pay for and if I DNF due to a cheap part it's my own dam fault, I;m not willing to take that chance. If I DNF it better be for a really good reason like a bad crash that shatters the rear hub carrier or shears a tie rod but to DNF for cheap equipment is not acceptable to me.
the screw's are 2.6mm for the Hitec's......and Titanium gears next to brass and steel....which would you pick....there is no Doubt in my mind the hitec is Higher quality then the JR.....i got pics of blown out 9000/9100T's and compared to...the top cases of Hitec's are significantly stronger and the gear's are basically BOMB proof.....FWIW that JR will sit in your pit box from now on...cuz the hitec wont fail you.

I went from a Hitec 5955 to a Futaba BLS451 and it was a night a day difference. So much quicker and who needs 300+ oz of torque. We are not rock crawling.

If it uses the plastic primary gear like the 9351 then use it for throttle.

not any more...they changed those out for brass gear now....and Fwiw i would much rather have Ti gears and a bomb proof top case....as apposed to Brass gears and a Top case that has the potential to fail.

I saw that z9100s and was considering it for a steering servo. Looks like you wanted more torque than speed on your steering with the DS8711? I'm coming from 1/10 scale so I'm a little clueless.
Also, the HRS on my Futaba 3PK will work with ANY digital servo right? Doesn't have to be Futaba correct?

For best performance use only an FM radio system and high capacity
6V NiCd or NiMH batteries.
You haven't had any problems? How is your run time? My buddy and I usually will stay after races and run for a while. Would hate to blow up a lipo pack...
